I'm not sure whether she's a Toku fan, but Seeming she's living in a place where Toku hardly exists (England), this would mean she's not seen Tokusatsu for ages.

As for telling her not to buy the DVD, that was only a suggestion. But if she really want's to buy the DVD and she how awful it is then thet's up to her, but since this is Saban's Masked Rider I really don't want to encourage her.

Ah, Saban's Masked Rider. I have fond memories of watching that show on mute, because I wanted to watch the badass Black RX fight scenes but couldn't stand the corny-ass dialogue. Looking at those screengrabs on Rangerboard makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

I remember one episode that had whatever the Saban version of Shadowmoon was... he and the Masked Rider transformed inside a high school and were about to start beating the **** out of eachother when the Principal comes out and says "Hey you two! Take it outside!" And the Shadowmoon character says something like "Gosh mister, we sure are sorry!"

WHAT THE ****?? The REAL Shadowmoon would have handed the guy his spinal cord, not apologized. The madness doesn't end there. In the episode where all the old Kamen Riders show up to help the Masked Rider, the evil aliens are attacking the town and just tearing **** up in general. And where is the Masked Rider while this is going on? He's being driven around in his parents' minivan!

WHAT THE ****?? Who are you and where is Tetsuo Kurata? God, I hate that awful fucking show. I'll never forgive Saban/Disney/ABC Family/Satan for doing that. Not ever.

Here's my point. You DONT have to watch it. If you want to see a better version, go back and Watch Black RX. There you go. Just because this version came out in America and it sucks does not mean you can never go and watch Black RX ever again and ENJOY what it was!

I agree. Masked Rider got stupid at times but to hate ABC Family (a company that wasnt around at the time. It was FoxFamily and another thing. They had NOTHING to do with Masked Rider. Nor did DISNEY. It was SABAN.) is a bit off the wall.

Im the only person here who probably WANTs to see American adaptions of newer Kamen Rider shows. Yes.. I want to see Masked Rider 555. I am interested in seeing what they would do with the footage.

Well that's great. If that happens, Im perfectly fine with my dvd copy of Kamen Rider 555. Just because Masked Rider 555 sucks doesnt mean I cant bust open my Kamen Rider 555 and relive what I originally liked. It doesnt harm me one bit to see an american adaption attempt. Especially if it sucks, what loss is there? NOTHING. I still have my japanese dvds. I still have the original show. I have lost nothing in the end.

But the brighter side is, what if they actually do a great story and a damn good job with the footage while staying differant from Japan? Booya. Thats TWO differant stories (Kamen Rider and Masked Rider) that I can enjoy equally and appreciate. I win either way in the situation.

Annnnywho.. Im done preaching. But I agree. I mean Masked Rider was very 80s family type show. It got pretty silly and laughable. Would I buy the dvds?? Hmmmm. Probably not. But I would probably like to see the episodes again. Just for fun.

But honestly, I do wish Masked Rider had another chance over here. With a similar staff like Power Rangers, they could do some great things that I know I would love to see. Just think, brand new fight scenes with your beloved Kamen Riders. If you hate PR you have to admit one thing. The original Fight footage has gotten ALOT better since 1993. Alot better and alot more fun to watch.

Probably. But theres always that chance they might do something kewl with it. If they mess it up, I always have Kamen Rider 555 with me. That will never go away. But if they do something really kewl with the footage, and shoot more action scenes, then I have now gained an extra show to enjoy!

Nah, I don't trust Disney!! Power Rangers Ninja Storm was bad enough. SPD was OK but still a little bit cheesy and Mora gets on my nerves!!

OH CACK!! I missed a few episodes of SPD DAMMIT!! Oh well, guess I was a little too keen on MagiRanger!! :laugh:

If they were to do anything "kewl" with Kamen Rider 555, they'd just translate it into English instead of booting out the Japanese cast and replacing them with American characters. Simple as that!!
