Masked Rider on DVD!

I doubt Disney could do anything good with Kamen Rider. Can you imagine how watered down and crappy it would be?. The entire soap opera aspect would probally be removed aswell. Personally, I think it would be a bigger disaster than RX, Beetleborgs, Mystic Knights, and Ninja Turtles live action.

And they can keep their mitts off Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon too!!

Remember that Pilot for Saban's version of Sailor Moon? OH THANK GOODNESS IT WAS CANCELLED!!!!

Of course. But you never know. My point is, if it sucks... who cares? It would be REALLY boring if all they did was subtitle or dub it and bring it over here. I already saw KRFaiz.. why would I want to watch it again dubbed and on network TV?

I would rather see them try something new with the footage than do the same exact thing. Sorry. I saw the original story on Faiz. I dont want to see it again but with American actors. I like how Power Rangers does it. They bring something new to the table. Something fresh.

The main point is, sure. It will probably suck. But that doesnt mean it shouldnt happen. You wont lose anything in the process. We only gain something from this.

What if you own the HK version, and not all the subtitles were correct, while the Network TV version's subtitles were correct and were translated by an American / Western man who was fluent in Japanese?

That would be awesome. I mean, I do have HK subs and am waiting for someone like MediaBlasters to release Toku over here in the states with proper subtitles. I would still like to see an american adaption for Kids TV done to it. Hell, it dont have to be kids TV either. That would be awesome if a channel like Sci-Fi channel picked up Masked Rider and tried to make a more teen or older fan driven series out of the footage. Like they did for Guyver. I still wish Sci-Fi would do something with Guyver! Both movies were awesome! (I heard the second movie only cost a million to make. thats pretty much a Family Guy episode. They could do it dammit!)

Fortunate, how? To have one of his greatest creations made into some stupid, half-assed mess? That fact that Masked Rider existed in the sad, destestable shape it was at all was enough to break the man's heart. Ishinomori-san's work being defiled like that is a sad and sick joke. No wonder he wouldn't let anyone else get their hands on the rest of KR after he died.

Correction...Shin was the only one who survived the ordeal (Remember the MR Series Finale???). We could count Kuuga right considering that was one of Ishinomori's final work before he passed away, right?

Ryuki dodged the bullet...and that fan clip for an adapted Blade got me scratching my head.

I'm still waiting someday to see if Forever Knight can come up with a metaphor that doesn't involve sex. =)

As for Ishinomori, no one's going to remember him for Saban's Masked Rider. Hell, no one outside of PR (maybe KR) fandom remembers Saban for Saban's Masked Freakin' Rider. I barely remember Saban's Masked Rider, and I watched most of the damn thing!

Ishinomori's works were taken down a few notches (well, several) by Saban's remake, but I don't feel sorry for Ishinomori because of it. The man has a legacy that's still going. He was a creative mind that spawned a cult following. He made more good things than just RX and one lousy send-up of RX alone isn't going to screw it over.

Ishinomori still made his cash and, quite frankly, could rest assured knowing that the Americans just couldn't do it as well as he did anyway.

Bash Masked Rider as much as you like, and that's fine by me. Call it a horrible, horrible remake of RX and that's also fine. You're probably right; I can't remember it to agree enough with you. But getting righteous about it? *eyebrow* Is it really worth the effort? (and yes, I could probably apply the same thing to myself right about now)

Ah, Saban's Masked Rider. I have fond memories of watching that show on mute, because I wanted to watch the badass Black RX fight scenes but couldn't stand the corny-ass dialogue. Looking at those screengrabs on Rangerboard makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

I remember one episode that had whatever the Saban version of Shadowmoon was... he and the Masked Rider transformed inside a high school and were about to start beating the **** out of eachother when the Principal comes out and says "Hey you two! Take it outside!" And the Shadowmoon character says something like "Gosh mister, we sure are sorry!"

WHAT THE ****?? The REAL Shadowmoon would have handed the guy his spinal cord, not apologized. The madness doesn't end there. In the episode where all the old Kamen Riders show up to help the Masked Rider, the evil aliens are attacking the town and just tearing **** up in general. And where is the Masked Rider while this is going on? He's being driven around in his parents' minivan!

WHAT THE ****?? Who are you and where is Tetsuo Kurata? God, I hate that awful fucking show. I'll never forgive Saban/Disney/ABC Family/Satan for doing that. Not ever.

Super Gold Part 2 is what you're talkin about. Summer 1996.

I so need to agree with Master P's comments.

I remember that part where Robo Rider (Shadow Moon) and Masked Rider transformed and said such gay lines that It made me sick.

It's a disgrace and that is why it never lasted.
