I'm still waiting someday to see if Forever Knight can come up with a metaphor that doesn't involve sex. =)
As for Ishinomori, no one's going to remember him for Saban's Masked Rider. Hell, no one outside of PR (maybe KR) fandom remembers Saban for Saban's Masked Freakin' Rider. I barely remember Saban's Masked Rider, and I watched most of the damn thing!
Ishinomori's works were taken down a few notches (well, several) by Saban's remake, but I don't feel sorry for Ishinomori because of it. The man has a legacy that's still going. He was a creative mind that spawned a cult following. He made more good things than just RX and one lousy send-up of RX alone isn't going to screw it over.
Ishinomori still made his cash and, quite frankly, could rest assured knowing that the Americans just couldn't do it as well as he did anyway.
Bash Masked Rider as much as you like, and that's fine by me. Call it a horrible, horrible remake of RX and that's also fine. You're probably right; I can't remember it to agree enough with you. But getting righteous about it? *eyebrow* Is it really worth the effort? (and yes, I could probably apply the same thing to myself right about now)
