Marvel's Civil War Thread: "No. You move."

That's pretty cool ^^

Feel like something a Saint of Athena would say... altough 'beside the river of truth' ? oO

you can't read this without reading Casualties of War to get both sides. Cap is just an old man who can't accept change. he has less support than the war in Iraq. There are no civilians rooting for him and all he's doing is proving the need for Registration. Tony pointed out and Cap agreed with him that a lot of the resistance to registration has less to do with wether is right or not, and more to do with the fact that Cap is against it and no one in the Marvel U wants to dissapoint Cap.

"The american people are afraid of Super-humans, we need to let them know that thier people just like the rest of us and follow the law same as the rest of us"

and apparently in Caps mind if they just totally fight the goverment then the american people will go..

"Oh you didn't want to follow a law designed to show that you don't think your above the law... ok well we tried thanks anyways."

I shouldn't place too much blame on Cap, the stories written by Mark Millar and he can NOT write Cap.... I don't know why Marvel keeps having him.

Your opinion, cause I could paste that qoute over a pro-pic and it would still apply. there are no rights or Wrongs in this story. thats what makes it so good and divisive amongst characters and Fans. It's up to the reader to choose thier side. and I pick Tony. a Man who I'm sure is going to "Die" by the end of this Arc.

I was gonna scan a page from Casualties but forgot a friend has all my CW issues so I'll attempt to qote Tony.

"If I stopped supporting registration there would be another to replace me, Gyric, Hill, it's not some rogue evil conspiricy it's law and it's happening with or without my help. But you..... you ARE the resistance, this wouldn't be happening to the scale it would if not for you. Without you who would hold out? Cloak & Dagger? Luke? fine, but Hercules can even spell Registration all he sees is that it's something your against and NO ONE wants to dissapoint Captain America."

Plus I feel for Tony. He knew that the Civil War was going to happen and he was prepared for the consequences but Happy's dead, and Peters betrayal cut deep. Tony had made him hisright hand man, when Tony dies he would have taken over Stark. he took him in when a villian destroyed his home, he gave him a multi-million dollar costume when all his were destroyed. and he asked him to walk into hell together. Peter swore and oath to follow him through this.... and then he stabbed him in the back.

Dude, you still gotta admit that right or wrong, Tony and Reed are acting crazy as all hell. Removing habeus corpus is bad enough, but creating a superhero team headed up by Norman Osborn and consisting of members like Bullseye and Venom? Yeah, that's smart. That's not at all a problem you're going to have to deal with another time when they inevitably go rogue. I mean, come on. Norman Freakin' Osborn. Then you've got the idea that somehow, cloning Thor is a great idea, because clones have always worked out well in the past. Then he kills someone, and its "Oh well, some kids died and their mom gave me one of their toys so it doesn't really matter how many people I kill or imprison."

I agree with you though, that Millar doesn't know what he's doing. Cap is acting idiotic in all of the official titles. I just like it when one of the side guys, like JMS here or Peter David, do their best to make the whole stupid story make sense.

I leave you with this thought:

""Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let me label you as they may." - Mark Twain

There are other factors as to why the SRA as it is now is inherently flawed.

Firstly, the other nations of the world see the SRA as a starting point for an American based Super Soldier program that could potentially lead to a superhuman army marching across their borders as opposed to a standard military unit being called into action to squelch international incidents. And to be completely honest, the potential for death and casualties is much greater that way.

Secondly, if all superhumans are registered with the SRA and are agents of the US Government, what happens if a threat from inside comes into play? How are those registered supposed to be able to fight that potential problem effectively if they're part of the supposed solution that caused it in the first place?

Not to mention, there's still the inherent problem of everyone knowing who you are. How do you protect everyone's families? Nearly every superhero in the Marvel Universe has had someone killed because some villain knew who they were - what do you do with that? Not everyone can live in Stark Tower.

Hero's were never expected to go public.
What gets me is I think back to issue #2 of New Avengers.
When Cap decides to reform the Avengers he approaches Peter AT WORK, when asked how he knew where to find him Cap replies "Oh you have a SHIELD file" now if someone as un-remarkable in the grand scheme of things has a SHIELD file do you think there's any Super humans that don't. And Cap didn't seem to have any problem with that. The SHRA basiclly says that "We already have these files. you just need to sign on the dotted line so we can publiclly admit to already having them" This anonymity crap is flawed. CIA agents in the real wold are protected every day, unless your Val plain. and Military, police, paramedics and every other service are expected to train.... but if you have the power of a million exploding suns (Sentry) you should be able to say F U america?

Plus, Aunt May took the Chameleon down by herself post unmasking. his loved ones are far from helpless.

As for how Tony and Reed are acting, again blame Millar. and thier not doing anything without the approval of the US goverment. people keep glazing over that Crime is at an all time low. the crooks are scared and the only crime is coming from Cap.
