AD 2009 - The human race first encountered an alien race. The Space War which followed with this race of giants, known as the Zentradi, nearly devastated the Earth.
2010 - The war ended. In April of that same year, a new United Earth government was inaugurated and humans began to follow the path of coexistence with the alien Zentradi. Those Zentradi who wished to use micron technology to return their bodies to human size.
2011 - The Earth UN Government launched a deep space colonization plan for the purpose of preserving the species.
2012 - The extreme long-range transport Megaroad One set out, carrying the first colonists.
2030 - The gigantic Megaroad-class ships were replaced by the first of the super high-capacity New-Macross class colonization ships, whose fleets were capable of carrying up to one million colonists.
2045 - The Protodevlin war occurs
2059 - The Macross Frontier Fleet encounters biomechanical aliens known as the Vajra and a large scale conflict between the Frontier Fleet and the Vajra breaks out.
2061 - Signs of a new danger is on the horizon.......
The 40th Long-Distance Colony Fleet also known as the Macross Voyager fleet, on the surface it's not much different than most other Macross fleet out there, though like many things in this universe there is much more to it than meets the eye. Underneith the part that looks like just another colony fleet lies it's true purpose, the main base of a group known as Dusk. It is a group that has existed since humanity's initial voyage with the SDF-1 Macross with the mission of eliminating any sign of danger that could induce mass panic. Put simply if there was a cover up regarding extra terrestrial beings, they were behind it. They are a group that doesnt officially exist at only a few people outside of the organization are actually aware of them and often those that discover them meet with an untimely end.
The Shadows, Dusk's private army which is often responsible for the various cover ups throughout history. Just like Dusk their existence is generally unknown to pretty much everyone that isnt affiliated with it and those that stumble across it tend to dissapear. For the most part they use dark colored variable fighters that have been optimized for speed and power as well a sporting a cloaking technology of sorts which allow them to quickly accomplish missions and leave nothing but rumors of mysterious dissapearing Valkyries behind. While many have gone down in history for their exploits during the various conflicts the names of the heroes among the Shadows remain completely unknown despite the fact that they often deal with vicious threats long before those same historical figures even see them.
The Nautiloids, massive creatures which resemble an earth creature known as the Nautilus, which dwell in space and seem to have a taste for both humans and zentradi resulting in them being rawn toward various Macross fleets. To avoid mass panic they have been designated as the Shadows' latest target.

Originally built and used by the Macross Galaxy fleet, a large number of VF-27 machines were aquired by Dusk and were optimized for the Shadows, resulting in a version known as SVF-27 Specter. Like most Shadows variable fighters it has been equipped with a cloaking device of sorts which renders them invisible for a limited amount of time. In addition the cyberspace interfact used by the original version has been replaced with a more traditional piloting system, though cyborg pilots can have the cyberspace interface re-installed.

History: The Shadows have two different methods to recruit new members, one is they find you and make you join and the second is someone sees them, and is offered the choice of joining or dieing in order to keep their existence secret. Seth ended up becoming one of them through the latter method when he did what they considered impossible: obtain proof of their existence. Originally he was a freelance journalist that utilized a customized VF-19 equipped with a large gun-like camera in order to photograph strang occurences in space, but that all changed on one fateful day. While zooming around and looking for anything remotely interesting to photograph he found himself faced with a rather large and irritable Nautiloid which he promptly attempted to run away from, after snapping a few pictures that is. Soon after that a group of VF-27s appeared out of nowhere and made short work of the beast, and as they dealt with the Nautiloid Seth took the opportunity to take some highly valuable pictures of the rumored dissapearing Valkyries before quickly leaving under the impression that he hadnt been scene.
He had every intention of going public with his findings and profiting quite a bit from them, but unfortuneately for him the Shadows were much more effcient than he had expected them to be and less than half an hour after he returned home he was knocked out and taken to the Macross Voyager fleet. With a gun pointed at his hea he was given a simple choice, join or die. Not quite ready to accept death just yet, he had decided to become apart of the Shadows.
At this point he has served with the Shadows for about a year and now resides in the Macross Voyager fleet where he is under constant surveilance by his fellow Shadows members in order to gauruntee that what he knows remains classified. As someone who at one point dedicated his life to learning the truth and exposing it, he despises their policy of keeping secrets from people and believes that if the people knew about these things they would be more adequately prepared for them rather than be totally taken by suprise like they had been in the past, but with others constantly watching him he cant do much about that just yet.
As a pilot his abilities are decent due to his days of using his custom VF-19, though his combat abilities are below average at best, but thanks to the weapons of the SVF-27 Specter even someone with his lack of combat skill can do a fair amount of damage.
