Least Favorite Toku Shows... And Why?

i was open to goseiger, but the first two episodes were just dragged on and on. they felt muddled and unorganized and plus the characters were just not that interesting. however, the design of the monsters and suits and mecha were well done.

The first arc of Goseiger's crap save for the mecha. When Mons Drake and the rest of Warstar go down it gets a bit more interesting.

In retrospect, I think the first arc of Goseiger had more going for it than the second one. The first couple of episodes are just pretty weak.

I don't think Goseiger is anything worth recommending to anyone until the third arc, though. Even at that, it would not be a high recommendation so much as "you may find this surprisingly enjoyable."

It's one of the "acquired taste" Sentai at any rate.

Also, I'm surprised at how we've gone before Kabutack and Robotack were mentioned. Then again, not surprising, given how people like to forget them.

Most HJU posters probably haven't seen any Metal Hero, let alone the franchise's dregs. Younger fans generally don't watch older stuff (and that's fine).

I've seen like... one episode each of Kabutack and Robotack. They honestly weren't bad, for what they were. It just happens that what Kabutack and Robotack were is the tokusatsu equivalent of Sesame Street.

These are shows for kids who are around 3. It's not impossible to make stuff for this target audience that adults can enjoy, but it's not very likely or even really worth the time to try.

The worst part with Goseiger was that I wanted to enjoy it. I thought the concept of earthbound angels was a solid one that hadn't been covered enough. I loved the sheer fun of the Seaick Brothers and the Pirate Goseigreat.

I just couldn't get past "Let's go clusterfuck mecha in the first 15 episodes!"

I'm giving it another try, with the local games and riffing club at the campus. We'll see how it goes.

Kamen Rider Decade. I loved the concept of transform into other Kamen Rider from the past, but the problem is that TOEI couldn't bring the past of KR actors back for the special anniversary!

At least, they did the right thing with Kamen Rider Hibiki actors (except actor of Hibiki) and Kamen Rider Black and RX.

I actually enjoyed Black/RX world, Hibiki World and Shinkenger World. The rest of them... crap. AU is bullshit.

I would like to add some more.....

Go-Onger - I'm telling you... I know most of you guys, who loved/liked Go-Onger, got sick of the Go-Onger bashing. I really hated (and still) this show because it was way too much. The cast sucked. The villains sucked, too. Too much comedy crapfest and idiots. It was really painful to watch. Also, the Go-On Wings were so boring. I expected to see them being completely a badass, but they weren't at all.

Boukenger - I didn't like this show and it was SO incredibly BORING! The cast sucked and the villains were so boring. When I first saw Eiji and he was badass... until he became to BoukenSilver, he was boring, too.

Gaoranger - I managed to watch the whole 51 episodes and I never really care about the hundred power animals. It was completely overkill. Also, this show was boring. I wish there was a main villain instead of only four generals themselves. So disappointed with this. There is only one thing I liked.... Gaoranger VS Super Sentai. I actually liked the special team-up.

Justiriser - I had a hard time to watch this. I thought it was incredibly boring.

Sazer X - Same as Justiriser.

Kamen Rider OOO - Please don't flame me. This show turned me off. I never really care about the actor who played as Ankh. Just like he was in Sazer X. Also, Kamen Rider OOO's multiple form gave me headache. Too confusing. Way, way overkill. That is why this show turned me off. It's just eh.

Starting with American Toku

Masked Rider- This show is, God-Awful. From an incoherant plot to treating the show like a damn sitcom. By far Saban's worst product.

Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills- An absolute horrid rip-off of MMPR.

Power Rangers Samurai- While Overdrive is a poorer show, I hate this show even more than Overdrive. I had high hopes for it, only for it to be a total letdown. Wooden acting, lame puns, awkward dialog, and watering down the Sentai material. You have to be a masochist to be able to enjoy this show.

Power Rangers Operation Overdrive- Just about everything that applies to Samurai applies to Operation Overdrive. Then add Kalishplosions, crappy storyline, and some of the worst villains ever seen in Power Rangers.

Japanese Toku
Goseiger- The only Sentai series I've seen so far that I dislike. Bland cast, lame villains, bad writing, and clusterfuck mecha problems to the extreme. The last 1/3rd of it was descent however, so overall I think it's better than the American toku shows I've listed.

Honestly, there's some American toku that's so terrible, that I just can't bring myself to put a single Rider, Sentai, or Metal Hero on the same exact list. None of their worst seasons get THAT bad.

And don't forget Big Bad Beetleborgs & Metallix as well. Compare those to the B-Fighter series in which the Beetleborgs came from & you'll agree that they're worse, too.
