Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger - Talkback

It wasn't weird because it was Japanese, it was weird because of the odd characters, costumes, settings, and practically everything else in the show, so naturally, they didnt translate well to a remake. Really though, I'd rather watch MMPR than Zyuranger.

I only like Zyuranger because of Dragon Ranger. That's the only half of the series I watch and if Shiro didn't play Burai then I probably wouldn't like Dragon Ranger but Shiro makes Dragon Ranger Dragon Ranger. I love Change Pegasus and thats why I like Dragon Ranger so much cause he played Change Pegasus.

I HATE Zyuranger, I list it amongst the worst sentai shows with Ohranger and Hurricanger.

But, one thing I can say about Zyuranger that I can't about Oh or Hurricane is that Zyuranger was at least original. It was a completely different entry in the sentai series. A shitty one, but different nonetheless. Whereas its predecessors were rehashes -- Fiveman a Flashman-lite and Jetman owing its soul to Gatchaman -- Zyuranger was original.

But, man, I feel like I'm trapped in some bad LSD-stupor when I'm watching it. The cast is likable, despite half of them damn near infancy and Dragon Ranger is cool, but...those gnomes. Those disgraceful villains...the MUSIC! What the hell is that ED theme!?! That had my vote for worst sentai ED until Magiranger came along.

Zyuranger's main writer was Noboru Sugimura, who was also the main writer of Dai, Kaku and Oh. All of these shows have a certain quality that makes you feel like you're on a bad drug, but I think only Dai escaped unharmed, in the long run. Probably because the main villains weren't dumbasses.

The sentai supremacist in me doesn't want me to answer if its better than MMPR -- I don't really think a remake can be better than an original. I found MMPR to be equally hokey -- hokey wizardry and gnomes replaced by disgustingly P.C. and non-offensive happy antics, and acting straight out of porn. Both Zyu and MMPR are pretty much the television equivalent of being kicked in the balls.

Heh...yeah reall...."Pythagoras" should really stick with mathematical equations and such. At least with Magiranger's ED, its more "amusing."

Is it just me that enjoyed Kakuranger here?? Even though it was kinda cheesey **BAM BLAMO! SHUWACK!**, it was way better than Juu IMO.

I enjoyed Kakuranger, but I think it's far from a good show. It does the dumb-ass ninjas a million times better than Hurricanger does, but it's seriously schizophrenic. I loved Junia and the Flower Kunoichi, though, they needed an earlier introduction.

Yeah! Junia rules!! One of the most underrated actors though....did he do anything else besides Kaku?

And I also loved Jiraya's "Mr. American Ninja" character.

the MUSIC!

I think the Zyuranger opening theme is the world sentai opening ever, and possibly the worst song ever, after Land of a Thousand Dances.

I never get tired of Kane just up and speaking English out of nowhere.

That would piss me off if I were a non-English speaking Kakuranger.
