KRDK NAVI:Japanese Dub Special Presentation

Finished watching the 2nd episode in Japanese and all I can say is that spewed off a lot of badasseries. Satoshi Matsuda made Wing Knight more awesome with that kewl voice of his.

Episode 3 "仮面ライダーインサイダー" and episode 4 "ライダーへの挑戦" with Incisor are now up (as always in Widescreen HD) on Youtube, same channel as before.

Suprisingly there are some notable instances of script changes, at least in the way some things are said or conveyed, the Venting scene in the dubbed "A Rider's Challenge," is very interesting for the changes in how it's handled. That and due to the unusual way copyrights work in Japan, the "spider and a guy in a bat mask" joke is taken to its logical conclusion.

Can't wait to see how Yusa Koji handles Drew and the report between him and Deneb!Xaviax, who, by the way, suprisingly fits the role like a glove.

Incisor's venting was downright nightmare fuel in the Japanese dub.

He was screaming and sounded scared as to what was happeneing to him, not bored to mildly annoyed as it is in the original.

I dunno, the sort of "arrogant and incredulous refusal to believe what was going on" sort of fit Richie, though his last words definitely dropped a bit of the dramatic impact.

The dub version makes it seem more worthy of the "drama" impact afterwards though here he came off a bit "whiny or buffoonish" sounding in his voice in his final moments.

His calling out for his father and for someone, anyone, to come and save him, however does provide a bit of added ironic final character development for him, after experiencing being possibly killed/disintegrated, his stuck-up bravado and arrogance sort of vanished along with the rest him.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know it is pretty late, and doubtlessly no one will notice it anyway (or likely make active use of it, for that matter) but I felt I might as well report this interesting sliver of news:

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight now has its theme song open for download via Mobile in Japan (legal release by Toei) and interestingly there are multiple versions!

KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT OPENING THEME (INTRO-CHORUS VER.)
KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT OPENING THEME (CHORUS VER.)
KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT OPENING THEME (Acapella VER.)[Though it could mean Instrumental]

Either the show really has that much of following in Japan or Toei is very confident in gaining enough of sales for a positive return on all this promotional material they've been releasing.

Doubtful anything will be heard of this (sorry, inavoidable pun) outside of those living in Japan though. Perhaps someone there might record it and release a bit of it on the net for those on the outside but that's unlikely.

I do wonder how exactly there are 3 versions of the song and not once has anything of this turned up since the show aired state-side and beyond, DVD exclusive perhaps?

On a related tangent anyone remember this?:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZRIAWvJYfM"]KAMEN RIDER DRAON KNIGHT [MAD]1-15[/ame]

It's an awesome MAD (MV), made by a Japanese fan, that acts kind of like an overview of the series, focusing on the new stuff (story, characters, fight scenes) that Dragon Knight brings to the table. And it's all amazingly set to Ryuki's "Alive a Life."

Here's the sequel, focusing on the episodes from "The Hero of Gramercy Heights to "A Dragon Caged" set to "Hatenaki Inochi/Boundless Life," Ryuki's first ED:

Check them out!

Episodes up to 6 (i.e. when Torque comes in) are on Youtube, same channel as before.

Episodes 1-8 can be found around on the net, but only as torrents so far.

Also more episode titles for the Japanese dub have been released:

Taken from the Toei Channel Official Site.
#/English/Japanese/GoogleTranslation/Likely Interpretation

15/The Many Faces of Xaviax/選ばれし者たち/People chosen/"Those Chosen"
16/The Hero of Gramercy Heights/グラマシーの英雄/Gramercy hero/"Hero Of Gramercy"
17/The Power of Three/三つの力/Three power/"Power Of Three"
18/The Brothers Cho/チョウ兄弟/Chow Brothers/"Brothers Cho" or "Brothers Chow"
19/Semper Fi/センパーファイ/Senpafai/"Semper-Fi"
20/Letter from the Front-Line/戦場からの手紙/Letters Home from Vietnam/"Letter from the Battlefield"
21/Strike's Ultimatum/兄弟の最期/End of a sibling/"Brother's End" or possibly "A Family Member's End"

Some of the translations are certainly bizarre. I mean "Letters Home from Vietnam?!"

Also they certainly like their spoilery episode names, don't they?

According to the schedules, they will have finished up to Episode 26, “Kamen Rider Wrath” by the end of the year.

Anyone know what the character introductory subtitle they always seem to show for Xaviax say?

There's the strain of text, then something written underneath in parenthesis.

The top part is Xaviax's current "human" alias (i.e. in Incisor's case, "Walter Connors"). The text in parenthesis is simply "Xaviax-shogun" or "General Xaviax." Much like with the Riders having their first name displayed and then their rider name in parenthesis under it.

Interestingly, the opening for episode 7 (of which the first part is up) was "textless;" beyond the rider names in the background and the show title, no other english subtitles (such as actor names, "Based on 'Kamen Rider' by Shotaro Ishinomori," etc.) were displayed. I wonder why? All the previous episodes had them unedited.

Thanks.

I always skip the openings in YouTube, so I'll look for that.

Also, the first part of episode 8 is up on the channel now.
