Odd, this thread it almost a year old. 
But yeah FR, for the stunts they would switch the "leather" suit (it looks like a leather material I'm not entirely sure) for a spandex/cloth suit. The spandex one was lighter and less bulky and didn't get damaged as easily in fight scenes like the other better looking one.
Check out the behind the scenes info on the DVD I think there's something mentioned there about it.
