Robotics scientist Jin Keitarô and his son Keisuke become caught up in the campaign of terror by an evil organization known as "GOD" (The Government Of Darkness). They are attacked and the professor's technology stolen, but before Keitarô dies, he is able to perform surgery on his son. With the last of his robotics technology, he transforms his son into the awesome "Kamen Rider X"! Now, to avenge his father's death and ensure the safety of Tokyo, Japan, and entire world, he battles the monstrish minions of GOD, weidling his powerful "Ridol", which can be used as a spear, a rapier, or a club, among others. With an exuberant cry of "Set Up!", he transforms into X-Rider, charging into battle aboard his motorcycle "Cruiser". For the first 21 episodes, X fights kaijin based on characters from Greek mythology. Soon, the personal soldiers of "King Dark", the leader of GOD, began to attack. After defeating them, he faces off against King Dark himself finally ending GOD's mission of terror, and the world is safe again.

I watched Volume 1 and really enjoyed it. The seriousness is something I've missed so much from watching Goranger to Goggle V these past few months.

I totally forgot about Tachibana aswell. The last Classic Rider series I watched was V3 a few years ago.

Can I expect any major arcs in this series even with only 35 episodes?.

I noticed a new character watching Tachibana train X, is that another Rider? ZX?.

ZX won't show up for another 10 years. Which episode was it in?

Kamen Rider X can basically be split into two big parts with a bunch of smaller arcs in between.

I consider the first 5 episodes to be an arc of sorts. It's Jin trying to find his place in the world really, becoming X-Rider, getting and losing the Jin Station, wandering around trying to figure out what's going on with Kiriko & Ryôko, and finally meeting Tachibana and learning about the other Riders.

Another ongoing plot thread from the first episode gets wrapped up in #8, which also introduces Apollo Geist, who is the badass villain of Kamen Rider. There's sort of like two arcs to him, in #9~14 and then 15~21. Then there's one or two episodes introducing the new main villain, and the last couple are all interconnected. They're sort of like standalone episodes with a bigger ongoing plot in the background that eventually builds up to the end. A there's a few old Riders that show up later on.

Yeah, V3 shows up mid-series to give X an upgrade and later on both Nigo and V3 show up for a teamup. Also watching the 5 Riders vs King Dark movie is a must because that's King Dark's first chronological appearance in the X Rider saga. And is it just me or do the 5 Rangers' bikes, Lightspeed Cycles, from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue look uncannily like Cruiser?

While I agree Uchida may not be a major Tokusatsu superstar like Hirose or something, he is PERFECT for the role. He plays it the best way it could have been done- sardonic, smug, and just plain pissed off with everything that isn't him. They could have cast another eccentric "villain actor" or stuntman, but they went for some guy who had done a couple cameos in random other series, and I think it works in the long run. And then there's that awesome voice.

Also, I love the extra freaky touch of him playing one mountain climber who survives in the second to last episode of V3.

And Knight, the final battle in #14 is a killer. Possibly my favorite one-on-one fight, period.

The one I meant was the final showdown between X-Rider & Apollo Geist the ends with him trying to blow up X-Rider with his own arm (which is a bomb...it just doesn't get any badasser than that.)

I think the burning sickle guy you meant is Chronos in the next episode (also a sweet fight.)

The big throwdown in #21 is good too. And this show has the first ever Rider vs. giant villain fight.

V3 showing up was just fantastic. I can't wait to see some X & V3 tag teaming in the next episode.

I now remember the new giant head villian from back when I watched the Kamen Rider Classic Movies DVD boxset.
