Kamen Rider Wizard EP 29 - "Evolving Beast"

Again, variety. If he just has the same weapons and attacks what would be the point in having a different form? This way he has more options in combat.

Not just variety of the combat type, too. Variety of toy types as well  I think Toei was thinking more the latter.

I like Beast Hyper's design, thought the blue and gold combination is really nice.

However that means we never get to see Beast fully utilizing his Beast rings and very soon he will back to punching bag once Wizard's final form shows up. I do like that Beast Hyper uses his gun to parry enemies' melee attacks. Most gun riders are pretty much useless in close range

I can see why they changed the colour. If they'd stuck with black it wouldn't seem like much of a difference. It would just look like the lion head had been moved from the shoulder to the chest. That wouldn't have much "wow" factor. I like the gold and black too, but if you have to change it I just wonder if there are better choices than blue.

Well, not necessarily. Beast started out as a mostly black colored Rider with gold accents. The inverse would be a mostly gold suit with black accents; kind of like the Survive Forms in Kamen Rider Ryuki.

However, I will say that I've been seeing Gold paired up with Blue quite a few times as of lately. ShinkenGold, for a more recent example. Is there some kind of art rule that says blue is a complimentary color to gold or something?

So am I the only one who thinks Hypers Whip and Magnum is suppose to be an Indiana Jones reference?

When they finally showed him using those things on his arm it was the first thing that popped in my head.

Maybe Beast Hyper can summon the power of the beasts as magical beings by using the Magnum, like summoning Buffa to assist him in battle or Dolphi when in aquatic situation. This would be awesome if it happen! :buttrock:

What annoys me about Beast Hyper is that they killed the awesome "campy stage magician" motif they had going on before with the white gloves and the capes and the rapier.

What aesthetic is Beast Hyper going for? Gaudy?

The Dice Saber already does that. Also, there's no sound for it.It just says "Hyper Magnum Strike."

Wizard 29:

- This fight between Wiseman and the White Wizard, and with the latter supposedly recruiting certain Gates to become mages, seems to be an echo of the two Overlords in Agito. I like that about this show... too bad it can't actually reach Agito-levels of quality.

- What is with these recent Rider shows and characters that just believe or do whatever some random strange person says?

- Gremlin is like Spider Fangire's annoying little brother. And Spider wasn't exactly likeable himself.

- I just noticed Nitou was wearing skinny jeans when spelunking in his flashback. I don't think that's standard wear >>

- Next episode looks like the start of an ongoing arc, or at least a new boss villain. I'm actually a bit interested in what's upcoming, which I haven't really been for a while.

Beast evolves in this awesome episode of Wizard!

- Now this is what I've been waiting for! An addressing of Kosuke's Chimera problem, an examination of his character and motivations, some insight into other characters, and Chimera finally talking. Where was any of this in part one?! This episode definitely saved the arc in my opinion, and while I don't think it reaches the quality of past second Rider upgrade arcs, in no small part due to the lackluster part one, I can at least say it was an enjoyable one as a whole.

- Beast Hyper's debut was pretty awesome. Design wise, the blue and gold work surprisingly well for Beast, I especially like the gold lion on his front, and the Mirage Magnum is pretty effective, especially in comparison to the Birth Buster. I thought it was really cool how the tassles were actually used offensively, especially because I thought they were just for show. And while it took some time to get to it, Beast Hyper's finisher was really nice too. I'm wondering if we'll get some other finishers out of Beast Hyper, though Ultimate Forms for Neo-Heisei Riders tend to have only a few, especially if you're a Second Rider. Here's hoping Infinity Style can live up to, or exceed, this debut!

- We finally get some idea of Gremlin's motivations, which basically amount to knowing everything there is to know about the mysteries that currently surround the series. That's probably why he has such subtle contention for the other Phantoms' subservience to Wiseman, as they're following his orders without question when he, the only character other than the White Wizard with a likely complete understanding of the plot, uses them as pawns to further his endgame. It's actually kinda nice to have a Phantom with a motivation different from "Despairing Gates" and "Killing People" which has been prevalent in all the past Phantoms. Though when you get right down to it, Gremlin is still a psychopath, so it evens out.

- Hey, Golem's craftsman ability was actually really useful for once! I have doubts it will again, but who knows?

- It was kinda weird to just randomly see the guy who ripped off Nakamoto randomly appear during the fight and have no further plot relevance. Especially since I believed he was just going to show up in a flashback. It seems like a waste really.

- Can't wait next week for the debut of the Legion Phantom, Gremlin meeting Wiseman, and Haruto's heart in danger!
