Kamen Rider Wizard EP 23 -"The Decisive Battle"

So Pheonix is stuck in a cycle of indefinite death and resurrection now? Pheonix gets stronger every time he re-spawns so wouldn't he eventually be able to withstand the sun and become one of the franchises strongest villains?

....And then Phoenix respawns inside Beast as some stomach burster.

Well that's a scary thought. But still, Nitou could had ate him when Haruto Rider Kicked him. Speaking of which, I'm glad they saved a Rider kick to finish off Phoenix. Something about the ending feels lacking about Phoenix's departure though.

Since Phoenix and Wizard are so ridiculously strong now I wonder how are they even gonna make Medusa, Wiseman and Gremlin intimidating or strong compared to Wizard and I wonder when is Dragon gonna come and bite Haruto up the ass?

On the bright side, a few seasons down the blocks maybe, just maybe we could have Phoenix revive and come back to find Wizard in another Rider's series. That would be so fun!

Good episode. The ending was a little rushed but it provided good development for Haruto and Rinko. Haruto's angst about Rinko makes sense considering his issue with death. So the fact that it affected someone close to him took him out of his game. I just felt he got over too quickly.

Kousuke also got to step up. His attempts to fight Phoenix were funny and his Sabre strike fail was unexpected. But he got a chance to let Haruto do what he felt he had too. I like seeing that kind of relationship between riders.

Now how are they going to top Wizard Rider kicking a Phantom into the damn sun?

Note that assuming that Phoenix travelled at around the speed of sound (There was no noticeable sonic boom), he would've taken 1214 hours (50 days) to reach the sun.

A cruel, cruel fate :D.

Ha! Beast came and saved Wizard, called it last week xD

And I was surprised by the Sun prison....I honestly thought he was gonna seal him or something...

Damn, what a way to go out! I kept telling my self this wasn't the end of Phoenix but alas, he's gone. The dude was really cool and entertaining, so hopefully Sora will prove to be just as fun.

And by the way, does anyone know who this is in the OP? I've been wondering forever but never really looked into it.

Here we go! I've been FIRED UP to see the conclusion to this two-parter!

--LOL! Wizard lets Beast have at him. Well, when a guy is tired, he's--!! :O_O: Beast, you blew it, man! You could have been epic, you could have been the hero this time, and you blew it! And by the way, having a gamble-style weapon that might let you down, that does NOT inspire the kids to buy your toys. :redface2:
--Back at the hospital, different patient. Same old song, brand new verse.
--Missy wasn't punished for not defeating Phoenix? Wow! Color me surprised.
--Beast, you weren't fooling anyone. Of course you're only doing it for the free meal... :170:
--Seriously police jerkface guy, stop picking on Haruto while he is down! You couldn't stop the Phantom at large in your episode, so you take it out on Haruto when he is feeling bad? You have NO shame! >:(
--*Sees Rinko confiding in Haruto* ... Now KISS! O3O
--...or have a meaningful moment with Koyomi. That works too, I guess. :rolleyes2:
--Ah, inspiring words, Nitoh's only weakness! :shakefist But I actually do like that Nitoh tried to take Phoenix on for him. I think there really is some hope for the guy after all.
--The fight has begun! I should probably make a "fight fire with fire" joke.
--Oh yeah! The BEST part of all four dragons! Coming together to form an even more powerful Wizard!

--As it is written, as it has been said, NOTHING BEATS A RIDER KICK! Bang, zoom, STRAIGHT to the sun! :buttrock: Now that's an ingenious way to defeat Phoenix once and for all!
--And Rinko is getting better; her spirit renewed and everything! Screw that other high ranking cop dude, he was a d-bag anyways...
--And Sora is revealed. Gremlin! Great way to end the episode. :)
--But oh, that preview. Well, what ever gives Beast some spotlight time, I guess! He's been needing it for a while now.

I enjoyed Haruto having to struggle with this. Not that I want to see him angst all the time but it's good that his resolve was shaken only to be put back in place by Koyomi and Rinko. I have an affection for the idea that when the hero loses hope, it's those they've given hope to in the past who lift them back up again.

The final battle with Phoenix was wild and I did not expect Haruto to kick his punk ass into the freaking sun! As for wether or not this will just make him stronger I don't know. Reminds me of comic fan discussions way back when Superman dropped Doomsday into the heart of the Big Bang.

I guess they have an out for bringing Phoenix back but it's also a plausible purgatory for the irredeemable villain that can't die.

I'm really not looking forward to Gremlin in his human form imping it up for several more episodes.

I know I'll probably be the only one but...I kinda liked it. Yes, it comes on the back of a bunch of lackluster intro episodes for the dragon forms and Beast, and perhaps it would have been better if they had pushed back the drago timer stuff, but on it's own merit it's OK. Beelzebub and Phoenix were big enough threats for the power-up being introduced to not seem entirely unnecessary (though the timer itself is a bit OTT for me - did it really need a frosted transparent plastic dragon sat on it?). With regards to this story, I always like Phoenix-heavy episodes as the actor really does a good job, and while it's sad to see him go I think Sora/Gremlin has a cool "manipulating both sides to carry out his own agenda" vibe that could give us some good stories. Haruto himself has to be saved from the brink of despair, which was a nice touch and calls back to whatever long game Wizardragon and/or Wiseman are meant to be playing. Once again I have to ask which side the agent guy is really on (going from him putting Haruto down straight to Wiseman loving the fact that Haruto will be down seems like a red flag)? There was enough drama and enough questions raised that it didn't just feel like a mindless "here, go buy this toy" story in the same way that the introduction of the Hurricane, Water and Land Dragon Styles did.

Anyway, comedic filler next week by the looks of it :redface2:

Aww, come on! That cute little chameleon appearing is the first thing Beast has done that was actually amusing.
