Aww, come on! That cute little chameleon appearing is the first thing Beast has done that was actually amusing.

the dice saber is one of dumbest ideas for a sword by bandai, it should have just been a sword like wizard, plug the ring and slash the crap out of phantoms not by a roll of dice which is stupid.

To be fair, I am sure the toy will be a lot more fun than what we will see in the show. But for what the show presents, I don't mind a sword where you gamble and get random results each time, as long as each result is something powerful, useful, or at least a feast for the eyes in some way. A weapon that could possibly let you down each time you use it is not an effective tool. It's not a terrible tool to rely on, but definitely not the best.

Although it was a very little detail, I loved how in the very first scene the moment Beast interrupts the fight and engages Phoenix, Haruto immediately switches to Hurricane form even while Rinko is still off-screen. I thought conveyed his sense of urgency to get Rinko out of danger far better than if he had run up to her, gone “oh no, I need to get her out of here” and then changed forms.

Also, this Wiseman character seems like quite a reasonable guy. I would love to have a boss who where I screwed up would just say “No worries, we’ll just see how it goes”

Okay, I've seen outrageous things in this series but... Did he just Rider Kicked him into the frickin' sun?!

That is awesome.

Why is everyone so impressed with this? It's not really that cool.

Haruto's emotions don't really seem to match up with his actions. He seemed flat all episode long.

I'm relieved now. I can finally say I take back a lot of things that were bad about Wizard. Finally they stopped with the repetitive "OMG save the GATE" and developed the characters, even if it took so long for it to come to this point.

What character development? Haruto just went blank faced; Shunpei looked concerned, Kousuke covered his emotions with food analogies (sort of), Kizaki barely showed that he cares for Rinko, AND RINKO regressed into a co-dependent goo clinging to Haruto's boot!

I think this episode, along with the other episodes, have convinced me to watch Wizard. Like, as the episodes come out.

Really? What about this episode animates you?

I enjoyed Haruto having to struggle with this. Not that I want to see him angst all the time but it's good that his resolve was shaken only to be put back in place by Koyomi and Rinko. I have an affection for the idea that when the hero loses hope, it's those they've given hope to in the past who lift them back up again.

I saw no struggle. There was supposed to be a struggle, but I didn't se it or fell it. I do agree that Koyomi and Rinko shoring Haruto up is great, but we saw that in the FLAME DRAGON premiere. It was GREAT then, but this felt like a weaker much less impactful Copy (, PLEASE!) of that scene.

To conclude.... now that I've kinda snipped at a whole bunch of people (no rancor present on my end here, folks) This has been the worst episode for me so far. Last episode was way better because it felt like a bunch of change was being set up. Perhaps 22&23 ARE setting up a shift in the story, which I think most fell we need (how long can they string us along on power-ups?) I think this episode did things in the flattest most uninteresting way possible. Everything felt bland and boring. Shunpei was perhaps the most interesting character AND HE IS SHUNPEI!!!! I like him fine. I know many don’t, but his reaction to Kousuke was the most real-feeling thing in this episode (Wajima and Phoenix were good too).

Finally, it makes me sad how spayed Rinko is. Ichijou did more in the first couple episode of Kuuga than she has done in 23 episode of Wizard. What the hell?

I didn't see that. Haruto was visibly worried because he felt guilty. Calling back to his fear of people being killed by Phantoms. Rinko didn't regress into anything. If anything it reassured what she said in episode 2 that she would help Haruto magic or no magic. Kousuke stepped up as a comrade. There was plenty of good character moments.

Ok stop comparing her to Ichijou. She's not Ichijou there roles were different from the very start so get over that.

In reverse:

It's hard NOT to compare her to Ichijou. 1) They are both saved by the Rider right away 2) They are both serious about their job (protecting people) 3) They both are said/shown to want to help fight off the supernatural/only the Rider can defeat monsters with the tools and skills they have. 4) they both support their Rider.... I don't see the difference in role. I have tried to not compare them, but my mind groups likes and apparent likes to understand the world better.

I want to hear everyone's opinion. I think it's more enjoyable when we can have more of a dialogue. Short statements make that difficult sometimes. I'm just prodding for more understanding.

Kousuke did step up, but he did that before in the Beelzebub arc. I feel like he's getting shafted a bit by Haruto and the Band. He should already be tighter with them, but the story isn't letting that happen just yet. I do concede that he is more transparent about his feelings this episode. It's a good thing.

She doesn't need to melt before the glory that is Haruto and his magical abilities to show that she is still going to fight the Phantoms with or without magic. She did THAT in the Beelzebub arc when she was actually using her detective skill. Sure, she got lucky with Phoenix wanting to get Beelzebub, but she earned the opportunity with her human efforts.

The nurse said Rinko's injuries were not life threatening. Rinko said she was fine. Rinko neglected to tell him she met a Phantom and was trying to break/redeem them. Haruto DID NOT fail and DID NOT put her in danger. Why was he struggling with it so much if it wasn't his fault?

She didn't even do that. She only said that she do what she can to protect people and if she'sin trouble she has her last hope. That is not melting it's showing gratitude to the personwo saved your life.

I still am not convinced about Rinko's behavior, but I can see his guilt to some extent. If Phoneix killed Haruto would he have killed Rinko? I suppose he just enjoys violence and hurting/killing people. Perhaps I've softened on that a bit. The execution didn't grab me though. Maybe I need to rewatch.
