sorry. i just finished watching episode 12 and i must say. eiji getting his ass handed to him by 2 Greeeds and a Yummy, and not a SINGLE medal falls out of him, yet when he fights the Kamikiri Yummy his armor flashes out of color, and when he fights Kazali, he loses his Kamikiri chest piece. way to go plot armor...:redface2:

OOO has been hit before and lost medals. If this happend every episode he'd be loosing core medals left, right, and center just like the Greeds do.

That's just a given; every rider has the traditional black hole which they use to access weapons and gadgetry.

I can see a new fan asking this question but not someone who's already watched Tokusatsu in general before.

Well it's been established that the greed have 3x3 Cores, like say...Uva has 3 Kuwagatta, 3 Kamakiri and 3 Batta Cores. For OOO it'd simply mean having backups in case he loses any in battle, while for a Greeed, having all 9 would make them become complete (presumably).

While that's cool and all It kinda like it when a Medal is returned to a Greed and OOO has no way of using that combo, makes it a challenge for him to get it back.

Really the most useful purpose is so Ankh can have a hawk medal(and exist) while Eiji is using another one. That and so Eiji will always have the TaToBa medals even if the Greeeds take one.

The only point to the "multiple cores" I can think of is that it lets the Greed stay in play longer as villains without having to overload the OOO medal set with medals of a particular type.

Let's say that each Greed only had one metal of each type that made up its body. Then OOO could only attain a Pure Form after totally destroying the Greed in question. Interesting from a story perspective but impractical if you want the Greed to have real longevity as recurring villains.

Now, let's say that each Greed was composed of nine unique Core Medals. That would mean that each Greed would generate up to nine (I think) different possible Pure Forms per Greed.

You'd also have to deal with coming up with nine good Bug powers, nine good Cat powers, nine good Heavy Animals... it'd be a real headache for the toy guys and make OOO's powers even more amorphous than they already are.

If each Greed is made up of 9 Core Medals that are, essentially, three copies of a basic head, torso, and leg medal, then OOO can get a Greed's Pure Form without actually having to annihilate that Greed.

It also means the writers can play with medal-swapping that has no immediate consequences on the fights-- i.e., if OOO has two Cheetah medals then he can lose one, which lets a Greed get a victory over him, without having to give up his Cheetah forms.

I wouldn't call it an elegant writing solution but it's certainly a good compromise between what the script wants to do and what the toy guys want to sell. I'm not sure it'd be possible to think up anything that worked better, given the givens.
