Well that was....hmmm.
I don't feel its a strong start to be honest. You get a bit of Ankh's personality (I kinda like it, feels pretty manipulative) but Eiji is as much a blank slate beyond the jokey aspects at the end of the episode as he was at the start. People are making Den-O comparisons, but after the first episode of Den-O you had a very good introduction to the two main characters, Ryotarou and Momotaros. And Double, excellent introductions to everyone. Here it felt kinda like "We need to get the monster and powers out there, chop chop". I quite liked the Greeed. They each feel like they're gonna be dominated by one character element but they were fun enough. As for Hina...she's super strong and is Shingo's sister...alright we've got the way Ankh will go from being out for himself to wanting to actually help...I don't know, that image of her lifting the ridevendor grates a bit. It feels like again it'll be played for laughs only. Why is she strong? Just cause. The Foundation characters, again blank slates. I just find the cake guy a bit annoying. And I'm not into the RideVendors much, although its a nice bike.
Greeed designs are quite nice. I hope we see them gain some medals as I'd like to see how they'd progressively change. The yummy, I see what they're going for, with the "human with mantis" feeling, but I would have liked if the yummy's personality had been affected by the desire that created him. He was born from the desire for jewlery, would have been nice if he had shown that desire himself.
Ooz...ummmm...I don't know. The Henshin is...yeah...loud? The suit's not too bad, and I liked the overall application of the powers. But why'd he switch? Seriously, I can't think of a reason the mantis would be superior to the tiger in that case. Whereas in Double one, he switches to Luna Joker as a defence, here it feels like he switched to emphasis the gimmick.
All in all. I don't think its a strong start. After the relatively light hearted Double, I wouldn't have minded a more serious show, but it could still work very well. But the first episode is just not selling the show at the moment. Now the intro is out of the way, we'll see how episode 2 works out.
Here's a big question, why the hell did Ankh free the other Greeed? Oh, and Shintaro, there's your secondary rider.
Oh and personally, I didn't get a Den-O feel. I got a comedy show feel. Not the same thing in my opinion
EDIT: I would also say he won't hav 200 forms, just 200 combinations. Going by ep 1, the combinations don't so much unlock different abilities ala the double half-changes as simply switch abilities out. Unless using medals of the same type like the grasshopper and mantis has an effect
