Kamen Rider Hibiki, wtf just happened?

But the movie was made by the staff that went on to do the show's second half... It doesn't have the whole "distance yourselves from the previous episodes" direction though, so I guess at least visually it fits in better with the first half.
Oh. I figured that by it's feel and it's release date it was made by the previous staff.

That's counting the ratings of the 20 Inoue episodes too though - the first 29 episodes averaged around Blade's level - which meant that it was on par with the lowest rated Rider at the time (although even that would still beat every later series, aside from Decade and W). Inoue's episodes had better ratings than the ones of the original production crew, making the overall rating average significantly higher.
That is deeply depressing.

Sorry, I don't see the resemblance. I downloaded the first two episodes from Nihon and I do not understand how it is anything like Hibiki other than starring another overly emotionalyl depressed girl instead of Asumu.

I mean, the original trilogy was about a stone statue that comes to life to fight bandits and stuff. How is that similar to Hibiki?
It's more of a tone and character thing. I didn't see it at first either, but as the show went on it became more and more apparent that this show was cribbing a lot of its style from Hibiki.

Those horrible looking CGI things cost them a lot of money to make? :sly: How? They look like utter crap and you could tell they were fake. They looked like CGI that belonged in a 1992 movie.
They're not working with a movie budget though. They're working on the SFX budget for a single episode of a kids TV show. Besides, look at episode 2 of Double. The CGI work in that was just as bad.

I agree the CG in W's second episode was bad, but the Makamou's just looked awful. It was like they just super imposed a crab and then threw the riders into the fight. And those generic door opening sounds did not help matters.

It gets better but animating those takes a lot of work.

From what I've read, Inoue started to get more cuckoo as time went on.As much as I love Faiz, near the end, he started to reuse elements and do sudden character changes with no warning.Heck, Kiva's a reboot of that but with vampires.I have a feeling that this is kinda happening with Kobayashi for her Rider shows as well, but with less falling into rivers.
I'm not too familiar with this topic. Because I'll probably never get around to watching Hibiki for petty reasons like the main Rider's an old man.

Just throwing it in here since we are somewhat discussing visuals...

IMO the first half of Hibiki had some of the best visuals created in a Kamen Rider show. I mean the locations, the camera work, the lighting, the suits and so on. To me it was damn good art.

The only way I can make sense of this is the belief that people were tuning in to see if this week's episode would be the episode where Kiriya was killed and eaten by a Makamou and thus force the cast to question whether the Makamou were necessarily bad. Because seriously, screw Kiriya.

Why no one likes Hibiki's second half? First part just boring. I see something is happening, but I can't help thinking that we are looking some cheap drama, without anything Rider-related.
While second part introduce us Yuichi Nakamura(He is the man, who will become Yuuto Sakurai/Zeronos. I think I do not need to say anything more) as Kyousuke Kiriya, who is finally bring us some conflict and ambiguity in season. I do really enjoyed watching his rivalry with Asumu(and Asumu being forced to be in this rivalry). It has some great plots like Shuki's and Zanki's episodes. And above all - Asumu didn't become Oni. He chose the thing he really wanted to do. Same with Kiriya.
Because of second part, I now remember Hibiki as great series worthy being Kamen Rider.

The only problem - they really should had started with "new" team from the beginning. Sudden change of season's focus in the middle of series always brings negative expression.

P.S. IMO, Hibiki's Movie, which was done with new team, is one of the best KR Moves ever.
P.S.2. New team has started working since 22 episode, but together with old team. And since 31 episode old team was completely removed.
