Just saying.

Her complaining about women in Kamen Rider, a show aimed at LITTLE BOYS, is like me complaining there are too few male ponies in MLP, a show aimed at LITTLE GIRLS.

On topic. Is this the second Rider?

First of all, I hope not. That thing is ugly.

Also; uh.. no. My point wasn't that women are bad lolz. It was that women should and ARE being portrayed accurately enough to little boys (while their opinions about equality are still forming) in Rider. Just as much as men should and hopefully are being portrayed accurately in MLP while girls are still forming opinions. There don't have to be a lot of them but they do have to portray them in a positive light.

That's how children learn how to behave and treat others. Any and all entertainment for children should not talk down to children but instead treat them as though they were adults. We want to encourage people to be smart and well informed, to push the boundaries of how they think and feel.

It should still be fun, but C.S Lewis said it best.

“A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.”

How far in advance do we usually get leaks anyway? If scans come out a month beforehand then we should start getting the real pictures of Rider #2 in early December, but IIRC we normally get some idea of the design before that

Yuuki has this artificial smiley, cheery personality intended to appeal to the male gaze.

Really? Could've fooled me.

there is no need to create this false dichotomy of "masculine" and "feminine"

Just because you say something is false doesn't make it so.

No, I wouldn't. All characters would be written equally

What does that even mean?

Because Tuxedo Mask's personality was already defined for him by the source material, whereas KR is written from scratch each year

Then how about the Showa Riders?

The birth rate is because men are realizing how pointless sex and marriage these days are, especially with dating sims and onaholes.

Aren't women doing stuff like that too? And most of the articles cite reasons such as them not wanting to give up their jobs or they like living alone. (Or even with their parents.)

Lazy, you have to understand. This is a show written for little boys. If little girls wanna watch a show where the girl is the star and is always saving the boys, then they should watch Pretty Cure, Sailor Moon, or other such shows that are made for girls. Boys don't wanna watch a show where the men aren't the ones doing all the action and saving the day all the time, it's boring for them.

Plus, we're talking about a country with different gender rolls and stuff than the Western countries do (US, Europe, etc) Japan doesn't care about that stuff as much as you do. They're perfectly happy with the way things are. Your complaining about the way they do this is futile, because it's not something they're likely to change anytime soon.

It's an uphill battle to do that. Of course, the most logical step would be for LC to set up her own Women's Lib in Japan. :169:

[HIDE]Of course, I'm just kidding, but this is getting ridiculous.[/HIDE]

Magical girl shows still treat the heroines as "girls" first (and all the stereotypes that come with that) and warriors second.

In other words they're happy to continue treating women as inferior and continue to pretend that staying at home and looking pretty for men is oh so empowering and somehow on a level with real political, social and financial power?

Since Nadeshiko uses up the "transfer student" ploy to introduce a new Rider, I wonder if there's any truth to the alien second Rider idea? Having Gentaro on the moon and then this guy suddenly walking up to him is just zany enough that the show might do it

My point is, that you should just stop complaining about it. No amount of complaining you do will change Toei's mind about anything. The show is targeted to little boys, and little boys are the ones who mostly buy (well, their parents buy) the products. If they wanted to aim it towards girls, then yeah, they'd start treating female Riders fairly. But, that's not who they're aiming at. They're not trying to satisfy your wants for awesome females doing awesome things. They're trying to satisfy the little boys wants of awesome guys looking cool and beating up the bad guys. They honestly don't give a **** about the female characters. Why do you think they rarely make female action figures? And when they do make female action figures (not awesome figures like SHFs or SICs that are targeted to much much older people) do they remain unsold on the shelves? Making girls look awesome in Rider doesn't bring Toei in extra profits (and if they do, it's such a small margin that it's not worth going out of their way to include)

Just face the facts, LC. No matter how much you bitch about something on the internet, nothing's going to change. =/ As much as us older fans want more awesome characters like Tackle, we're most likely not going to get them, because that's not what little boys want. Not trying to sound like a douche, that's just how it is, and it's something you have to learn to deal with when watching shows aimed towards Japanese men/boys. If you can't deal with it, then, well, it's not hurting their profits or their ratings since they're not even trying to get Westerners to watch this stuff.

Well, let's see. People here complain about:
- bad casting
- actors looking too young
- too much merchandising
- poor pacing
- stories/characters being "bland"
- stories not being dark enough
- "continuity"

and on and on and on. It's not going to change anything, but does it stop them complaining? No

They honestly don't give a **** about the female characters.

They don't give a **** about real women either, or they'd stop perpetuating the message that women exist mostly for the convenience and pleasure of men
