Kamen Rider Drive 29 What Really Happened In The Robbery

DANGIT GOU!

I don't...I don't know if I can muster enthusiasm for this show anymore.
I kinda know the feeling atm. The two main elements of this episode were the special unit getting crapped on by the 1st team and Shinnosuke going apeshit over his dad's death, and tbh both just get on my nerves. Shinnosuke wanting to know what happened to his dad should be compelling, but every time it comes up he just loses his rag straight away and the constant screaming gets annoying (and don't even get me started on Captain Hammy again). The whole star-behind-the-ear thing was OK and I presume will tie into Gou's betrayal somehow, but it's buried in elements that grate on me to the point of skipping to the next scene. It also didn't help that they built up the final battle to be this big dramatic confrontation, only to use the MotW's opening ability to turn it into a comedy skit and ruin the mood.

The whole Shinnosuke's father thing feels like a total ass pull. They couldn't have brought it up earlier when we were wondering what Shin's link to the Roidmudes was?! They could have built up to the reveal way better.

And at this point I too have had enough of Nira shitting on the SCU to satisfy his ego.

Was there no appeal to Shinnouske just being a cop and his story being tested as one? Wasn't there a plot point where he wants to be a better partner? But no, we gotta play that dead relative card somehow....

I get that Shinnosuke want to know what happened to his dad, but when he does that he loses perspective on what's more important. Even to where he wound up traumatizing a witness further. Not to mention that Chase had to remind him that he's a Kamen Rider and that he is suppose to protect people first.

Apparently not since in previous threads people were saying Chase felt more like the main character than Shinnosuke.

Because they never gave Shinnosuke any personal conflict! If they had played up the partner card and the conflict between being a cop and now acting Asa vigilante (who is judge, jury and executioner of bad guys) it would have been enough! But at the beginning it felt like Shinn was just dragged along for the driver and not the one behind the wheel. If he had been given a bit more gently earlier they wouldn't need to force the dead relative card on us this late in the game!

Drive 29:

- What's the point of Mach's gun saying "Front Wheel"? It's the only wheel.

- Justice Hunter? What, no Formula overkill this time?

- Maybe the police would take the SCU a tiny bit more seriously if, I don't know, Kyu didn't carry dolls with him to police briefings.

- You know, this was the perfect opportunity for Nira to shoot down Shin without being a complete jerk, that being his conflict of interest via his "personal connection" to the murderer. But no, we have to stick to the "You let the monster escape, stupid Kamen Rider". The only thing I can say is that the scene didn't devolve into complete inanity like most of Nira's scenes.

Actually, I take it back. I was suckered into the punch line. You almost had me, Drive. I'm disappointed. :nooo:

- I'm kind of with the people who aren't that thrilled with this sudden "Shin's dead father" subplot, but more from how suddenly it came up without any mention of it before. Honestly, they could've done the parent thing another way if they really wanted this story, such as Shin joining the force despite his non-cop father thinking he wasn't cut out for it, and thus Shin being constantly motivated to get in "top gear' despite his usual "sluggish" nature.

- Eisuke has a gold tooth.

- Rider Kick! In a Rider show? Inconceivable!

Shin said his father was a cop in episode 2 and quoted him...it didn't come out of nowhere.
Found the scene, it's the scene on the hospital rooftop with Hayase. Shin said that his dad was a cop(俺の親父もデカだった) and that his dad always said that a police officer carries great responsibility/duty on his shoulders.(いつも言ってた、警察官の肩には大いなる責任がのせられるって)

Up until the case with the bank robbery/Open Roidmude, Shin had probably thought that the case was closed and that the culprit was that Negishi guy.
