Kamen Rider Dragon Knight - "Calm Before The Storm" - Talk Up!

Anyone willing to post a summary of what happens in the Episode 30 sneak peek for those of us who can't access it (a proper video would be accepted as well)?

Kit, Len, Kase, Lacey, Trent, and Maya are in a parking lot. James is hiding out in the reflection of a window of a car nearby. Maya asks Len if the area is even safe, but Len just says that the point is moot, since going after Xaviax is their top priority. Kase says she has something that will help them, and it happens to be the Survive Mode Cards, which were the last thing she got before Xaviax destroyed the Kamen Rider base. (She also said she tried to get them all, but didn't have time to, and that she wishes she had gotten hers.) Len explains that the cards are the most powerful ones in their deck, and they need to be used in emergencies since they use up a lot of a Rider's energy. Kit asks Kase why she never gave them the cards before, and she explains that they were fighting amateurs before, and they're necessary now because the stakes have been raised now that Xaviax has gotten involved in the fight full force.

Len is standing at the side of the car in which James is hiding in a window reflection, and then James pops right out and ambushes Len. They end up in a reflection of another car, and then come right out at the other side of the car. They're both on the ground. James had caused Len to drop Thrust's and Sting's decks. Len tries to grab them, but James kicks him away. He snags the decks and escapes into a reflection of another car's window. Len, Kit, and Kase go after him, leaving Trent, Maya, and Lacey behind. Michelle then appears with two of the No-Men, and tells the three of them that they're coming with them. Meanwhile, the three Riders in Ventara split up. Kit goes his own way while Len and Maya go another way. Kit finds James in a reflection, who taunts him with the two decks he stole. Kit changes and goes after him. Len and Maya are left to deal with Wrath.

I find it interesting that Kase mentions not getting her Survive Mode Card, yet Ryuki and Knight are the only ones who have them in Kamen Rider Ryuki.

I'm not so sure, it doesn't sound half that bad an explanation.

True, it is a bit different than the way Ryuki handled it, but you have to admit it was odd that two of the three Survive Cards that Kanzaki made just happened to line up perfectly with Ryuki and Knight's respective elements and no one else's. Especially if he created the Rider Battle neutrally and developed the decks prior to moving things around in the various Rider's favours.

(Kind of like the odd coincidence that in every "reality" Shinji always got the Ryuki deck, Len always got the Knight deck, and both eventually impeded his plans no matter how many times he "supposedly" hit the reset button)

That and it sort of works if there are twelve Riders (all working as a team): there thus are four sets of Survive Cards, correlating to 3 Riders each; heck, maybe Thrust, Sting, and Strike were part of a set and that's why their chimera project creates "Genocider."

It is odd though that if Kase could only get two cards, and
Xaviax undoubtedly got the third (if they decide to use that of course)
what happened to the other eight? Where they destroyed beyond repair? Thrown out into the void? Lost forever? The idea is sound but the set up feels a tad bit contrived if you think about it too hard.

Also is there a reason only Thrust's and Sting's decks fell out into the open; was it all meant to be random? I mean I know that in Ryuki
Ohja only took out Raia and Gai and thus only contracted those two monsters extra
it still is a little off. However it does have the bonus of better explaining why Ohja/Strike had multiple Contract cards.

Maybe it will all work better in actual execution.

After looking at next week's sneak peek... is it just me, or are Nathan Long's episodes the weakest of the bunch? All of his episodes seem to be the ones with all the contrived/stupid **** in them. For example...

  • In "Kamen Rider Thrust," Kit and Drew go all the way back to Kit's house JUST so they could hear Maya's message on the answering maching telling Kit that Drew was tricking him.
  • In "Kamen Rider Siren," Kase saves Kit from getting vented by Axe, then fights Kit. Huh?
Now, in next week's episode, there are TWO big contrivances:
[hide]
  • Kase just HAPPENED to have ONLY Kit and Len's Survive cards, especially when she has NO reason to keep Dragon Knight's. Huh?
  • Len keeps all the advent decks conveniently in his pockets, and JTC conveniently steals ONLY the Thrust and Sting decks.
[/hide]
His episodes have had their moments, though--I generally enjoyed "Kamen Rider Thrust," even though the pacing was off, and the reveal that Xaviax was inside Kit's head in "Dark Temptation" was great. But I find myself enjoying his episodes the least, which is weird considering he's the head writer.
