-AGAIN with the long-ass recap.
-And AGAIN with the slo-mo of Len getting off his bike. Why do we need that? It doesn't even look that cool, what with them putting his nuts all in the camera like that.
-What was the deal with Lacey's (that's her name, right?) blonde hair? This is clearly her gimmick--wearing something weird each week, but I hope they don't get stupid with it (at least, not anymore so). And if they do, I hope they show her getting laughed at for wearing all this ****.
-So, wait, does Maya get paid for writing on WayAboveTopSecret.com? 'Cause that's the only logical way her plot in this episode makes sense.
-I get that Len was just training Kit, but I still kind of expected him to be a bit more angry about that, since he seemed to get really frustrated during the fight last week.
-I'm glad they finally mentioned Len's name, though I hadn't even realized they never said it until this point. That's pretty fucked up, actually. I get not throwing out all the plot in the first one or two episodes, fine. But to not mention one of the main character's names until episode FOUR? If they were gonna do that, they should have at least done like PR does and have it say, "Matt Mullins as Len" in the opening credits.
-Speaking of which, I like that we got SOME of the backstory, but it wasn't a whole lot. All they explained was the twelve riders and Ventara. No mention of their fighting (though Len did mention that they were after Kit because they thought he was working with him), or Xaviax, or how he gives people like Richie advent decks. I get that they're gonna spread this stuff out, and I'm okay with that, but hopefully they don't take TOO long.
-I still would have liked to have seen Richie's father, or at least have it implied Richie talked to him on the phone, since it seems odd that Richie never talked to his father direactly about any of this. It could be that he and his father were very distant, which is why he got his lawyer to talk to Richie, but still, that's something they should (have) explain(ed).
-I liked the scene with Maya and that other reporter interviewing the electrician, especially Maya watching Len fight through the mirror, but it brings up a whole TON of questuons about WayAboveTopSecret.com: are they getting paid for their stories (which I mentioned earlier)? Is this regarded with some sort of journalistic integrity such that they can hire people like the chick Maya was working with? Do they have professional journalists and junior journalists?
-Is it me, or does Richie look like Matt Mullins' brother?
-"This is so not cool!" Really? THOSE are Richie's final words? It makes sense with what kind of character Richie is, but come on. They couldn't have thought of something cooler for dude to say as he's "dying"?
-Speaking of which, I get that they can't flat out say that he died on the show, but the whole "Vented" thing sounds an awful lot like the Home for Infinite Losers on Dragonball. Though, being stuck between two dimensions could be a pretty cool punishment. Kind of like Limbo or Purgatory.
-I like that scene where Len is sitting on the rooftop looking at Richie's advent deck, clearly showing remorse for having to "kill" Richie. It show's that he's not as cold and tough as he tries to seem around Kit, and it shows that Len can actually portray some sort of emotion. Too bad Matt Mullins can't.
-Kamen Rider Torque is up next, which is awesome. Zolda was my favorite in Ryuki.
All in all, I didn't enjoy this episode as much as last week's, but it was better (if that makes any sense). It was better in the sense that they seemed to cut down on the awkward silences in this episode and the unnecessary **** like Len's training sequence. Plus, Maya's subplot (even if it didn't make a ton of sense) was funny and cute, and it was nice to see Len show emotion (even if Matt Mullins can't properly portray it).
So, yeah, very good episode. Nice to see Dragon Knight coming into its own right now. 4/5.
