Kamen Rider 2015-2016 New/Rumours Thread : Kamen Rider Ghost

Yeah, they were really trying hard to pull another OOO thing with the driver this year. They almost sound like they're supposed to be rapped, but I guess we'll see.
I get more of a Gaim vibe from the phrases. It'll be probably yet another random male seiyu.
EDIT: Also, this show might just be coincident with the two new Ghostbuster Films, IIRC.
It's probably more influenced by Yokai Watch, currently the hottest kids franchise in Japan. What would you know, Bandai happens to have the toy rights for it and it's making them more money than any other franchise (even Gundam has finally been surpassed!). Both Rider and Sentai have a history of following popular toy trends.

They tend to pick good seiyus for the voices rather than just doing it "randomly". There was certainly nothing random about the Gaim announcer :loltongue:
The fact that they're still annoying even though the voice actors are good is another matter, though.

The fact that this whole "great men" concept surfaced before as a rumor makes me believe they've had this idea for a while and so the Yokai Watch hype is not the entire reason why they're doing it.

Not much has been discussed about the monsters yet, but one of the rumors was that the Eyecons are the monsters themselves, right?

It also sounds similar to a rumour before Gaim of the hero being a ghost. It could be a combination of past ideas?

I'm guessing that the Eyecons will be kind of like the Lockseeds in that certain ones "belong" to a specific Rider, but we'll get random switches for effect, like Gaim using Banana for some reason in that one fight.

I'm not seeing a lot of places on the GanGan Sabre that something could really attach to. Maybe our weaponized buddy robot dreams are dashed. If all of this is already in the first quarter, I'm super jazzed for what's to come.

Also, are we assuming he scans the Eyecons on the sword? It's got that big ol sensor, but it doesn't look like the Eyecon locks in.

From the pics, it looks like there's a sensor(the eye on the handle of the weapon) which can interact with the Ghost Driver(or the eyecon in the Driver?).

Okay, I need to know, how is Youkai Watch that big in Japan? I'm interested in playing the game when it comes to the US because it features Youkai, but what is it that makes the kids love it there? Is it just that good in its story telling? Is it the characters? How come something that is supposed to be this big is only heading ot the US now? Shouldn't this have been something someone would have cashed in on bringing here a few years ago?

Yokai Watch is a very recent boom.
There was a comic and a 3DS game, which sold normally.(2012/2013)
The anime was the big influence.(2014) After the anime came out, sales of the game soared. The OP/ED songs from the anime became hugely popular, especially among elementary school kids. The kids loved the dances which went along with the songs. (I heard those songs everywhere in Japan when I was there last year. Small shops, big shops, shopping centers, theme parks, on tv...)
The collectible yokai medals were a hit too. People were scrambling to buy the DX Yokai Watch toy as well. The game sequels had great sales too.
It also hit a demographic similar to Pokemon.

This huge boom probably influenced Toei during planning/pre-production of both Ninninger and Ghost. though I'm sure they already had some similar ideas and themes floating around.
Ninninger's ending dance routine was in fact choreographed by the same person who choreographed Yokai Watch's 1st ending dance.

Last I heard, localized versions of the Yokai Watch games are being worked on and the first one is due to be released this year..and the anime is going to be localized too.
