Kabuto's Second Half (everyone seems to hate it?)

But at the very least, in the movie Tendou saw the Kabuto Zecter. He could have put together that the belt + red mechanical beetle = armor. Without the movie, he just knew of the Kabuto Zecter before it was even released.

Even in the movie version, there's not any focus at all on the Kabuto Zecter. Although it's on the belt initially, it's just fades out when Tendo removes the belt and gives to his past self.

In the series version, we only see a brief scene with the belt being given to Tendo, nothing about right before that moment. So, there's nothing making the initial status quo less or more likely there. Either way, in the first episode, although Tendo was expecting something to happen, he didn't know exactly what it would be.

Also, rewatching these episodes reminded me of how all the flashbacks to that scene are different for each character... Even disregarding the speech pattern and different sentence said by each character that I mentioned in that other topic. In Tendo's memories from the tv version, he isn't even wearing the Kabuto belt there - even though Hiyori's one memory throughout most of the show is the boy with the belt (Hiyori's memory doesn't match the GSL scene either though, like I mentioned before - even Tendo's clothes are different).

Personally, I don't want to rely on the details within the memory, there could be countless reasons why they don't coincide... Unintentionally because the directing sucks, or intentionally since they want to point out that memories change over time.

In the 20s he implies that his GSL self gave him the belt when he points to a picture of the sun (which he compares himself to). Later though he says the Natives gave it to him, the same Natives who killed his parents and (as is seen in the 30s when he tells Hiyori what happened) he was about to kill when he found Hiyori.

The image of the sun can still work just fine if he considers that he actually got the belt by himself or due to who he is, rather than seeing it as a gift from the Natives.

Either way, there wasn't an actual flashback from Tendo's point of view by that point, and the one flashback scene we had gotten - Hiyori's (which started appearing in episode 8) - didn't match the movie scene. Like I said though, later Tendo presents his own flashback which is incompatible with Hiyori's (He isn't wearing the Kabuto belt when Hiyori's parents die).

There's also another difference that I mentioned in a previous topic...

Hiyori's memories regarding the words said by the person who saved her were different from the ones Tendo remembered (she even corrects herself after hearing Tendo's version of the events), and neither actually matched the movie version Tendo either.

The one thing that matches between different versions is that 7 years later Hiyori in the movie makes the same drawings and remembers the same words that tv series Hiyori does initially.

I felt After they revealed Yuri is a worm and Tendous sister the show kinda went down hill. Everything that involved Tendou just felt boring to me. I got more wrapped up in Tsurugi and Kagamis relationship and everything they did.

I hope they did a movie or something to discuss the origins of Sasword, Drake and the Hoppers.

i don't think that will happen... its more likely to expect an origins story of owner than that....

I thought the ending was slow, that much is true. And I liked Kagami much more than Tendou. But despite all its problems, i still thoroughly liked Kabuto. Hell, I even liked God Speed Love. It isn't for everone, but its more good than it is bad.

I actually really liked God Speed Love, possibly more so than W Forever. I thought it was really fascinating and atmospheric, and I liked how you never really knew whose side everyone was on.

I loved Kabuto for the first half as it set up its story nicely and had intriguing characters. But once Dark Kabuto appeared, it started going downhill. Hiyori didn't appear much in the story and Daisuke appeared only when he wanted to (and then becoming a completely different Rider in KR the Next). Let's not forget the biggest plot hole of all, how Kick and Punch Hopper were formed. Like, where did they find their Zecters? Who gave it them? How did they decide to become a team? Even the kids who watched this had to be asking those questions themselves. What this show had for itself were the amazing Rider designs. Each costume were badass and my favorite suits were Kabuto, Hyper Kabuto and TheBee.
