James Gunn gives insight into Maxwell Lord's comic roots

[BoosterGold94]

James Gunn's been breaking down how the DCU's version of Maxwell Lord ties back to the classic work by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis, and Kevin Maguire. It's wild that after all these years, some fans still aren't familiar with the original vision of this character.

Gunn said,

"Maxwell Lord has been a character that has been misunderstood for a long time."

It's a reminder of how continuity and character depth can get lost over the years, especially when adapting for the screen. The connection to that iconic Justice League run should be a treat for fans.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they bring that classic take into the new DCU!

Maxwell Lord definitely has a fascinating backstory, especially in that classic run by Giffen and DeMatteis. I love the humor and character depth in those stories, but I worry that modern adaptations sometimes miss that blend of comedy and drama. If Gunn can capture that spirit, it could really resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
