19 - They don't have any well thought out Theories/Epileptic trees.
18 - When they use other peoples opinion's on shows they haven't seen.
17 - When they talk about other Otaku being "Fashion Slaves".
16 - They don't have a rigid buying hierarchy.
15 - They often go into detail about a series they like (??)
13 - They don't keep Otaku topic's to other Otakus, they talk about them with anyone
13 - They cite Wikipedia as a source.
12 - When then only talk to other Otaku.
11 - They have no knowledge about IRL Love.
10 - They just agree with everyone all the time.
9 - When they say they where a fan of something before it was popular.
8 - They call themselves an Otaku when they only watch Mainstream series.
7 - Uses the "I know someone in the Industry" line when trying to convince someone of something.
6 - They bash other Otaku for being "Desperate".
5 - When they try to sound smart talking about something that is common knowledge.
4 - They complain about shows they don't watch.
3 - When the successfully impress a Girl (or guy if they are a Female Otaku) with obscure trivia.
2 - When they play dumb when caught talking about something they know little about.
1 - When they Mispronuce name's even a little bit[/HIDE]

It's mostly not conforming to the Streotypical Otaku mold, or succeeding using your Otakuness to impress Girl's/Guy's.

What annoys me is when people talk about "geeks" and "Otaku" like they're an actual classification of an individual. Everybody likes things. Just because you happen to like a particular thing or set of things doesn't mean you're fit to be slotted into some sort of group.
