G5 as an idea is a real thing, but that version's a photoedit, somebody's idea of what it might have looked like.

My belief is that the G5 program got shut down (due to Faiz-era police incompetence) and the tech wound up leading to the Zectrooper years later, albeit without anyone really knowing how to use it properly which is why the Zectroopers suck. That's my fanon and I'm sticking with it.
