I'm sooo mad at Warner Bros (Warner Bros confirms Superman Reboot)

reboot?
let's hope it doesn't turn out like this

Only if the DCAU did it. And even then, I'd want it to be short term. VERY short term.

Superman is different in almost every way from Batman. Powerful, optimistic, living in a bright and shiny city, as opposed to human, brooding and living in a city that's perpetually dark and rainy. It's what the character is. You can't just make him "dark" and expect it to fly. You'd have to really work at it.

Anyway, I'm cool with a reboot, since I'm not a huge fan of skinny pacifist superman (he didn't punch anyone or anything the whole damn movie)

That's pretty much why people (excluding me) didn't like Returns. They wanted to see "SUPERMAN SMASH!!!!!!!". Supes tries not to use lethal force unless absolutely necessary, which is why he usually doesn't punch out burglars or bank robbers. Him not punching anybody made sense to me because he only had to deal with Luthor, who had no real powers.

I'm cool with a reboot as well, as long as they go the route that The Incredible Hulk did: a sequel that was also a reboot.

Agreed, it works for Batman because that's the kind of atmosphere that they've already set up for the charecter.

Y'know, I'm suprised that they NEVER used Braniac in any of the live action superman movies

Anyway, I'm cool with a reboot, since I'm not a huge fan of skinny pacifist superman (he didn't punch anyone or anything the whole damn movie) but I think trying to make it "dark" is a bad idea. Superman isn't a dark character, he doesn't live in a dark city, and even his enemies aren't particularly dark (save, say, Darkseid) Let's leave dark to to Batman who wears that hat better anyway.

Exactly. We don't need Superman turning into another Batman. And I'm not interested in seeing the same thing happen to Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the like. It's getting old fast. I'm not interested in seeing them all wear black and fighting in some generic dark city. That way, they stop being the iconic characters we know and love. Just lame Batman ripoffs.

And similarly, Batman is not the end-all-be-all of superheroes.

I would also love to see Frank Miller's take on this.

No. Just no. Out of all the directors that could be very wrong for any Superman project, Miller would be the absolute worst choice of them all.

I agree to this 100%. Frank Miller seems to hate Superman, always portraying him as an invincible authority figure (a super-powered "The Man"), with Batman representing freedom and rebellion, and being able to beat up Superman with his bare hands. No thanks. :rolleyes2:

I'm sick of seeing a facist Superman. That's what too many hack writers/artists love to do these days, to portray Superman as The (Super) Man (just because he represents "The American Way," when Superman should represent all mankind). I'm all against it.

And Miller should just stick to his own original work.

frank miller's version of superman would probably be shot in black and white with a green screen................

superman is a boyscout, plain and simple. a dark superman can easily go out of control considering that superman can easily destroy entire nations if he wanted to.

i think a reboot would be good considering that the younger generation probably hasn't had that much exposure to the christoper reeve (may he rest in peace)movies

but a dark superman doesn't work
