I Miss The Old Days

No matter what though, I still think a fruit for a power up is reaally ridiculous. I mean really? A huge orange on your head is considered threatening?

No, I can agree. I'd say the over-the-top fruits aesthetic of the show's "armaments" is its biggest detriment. Mystical fruits as a power source is acceptable in a superhero show, pineapple armors and cherry arrows are not.

But honestly, saying that Gaim is simply a show about fruit armors is, like, saying that Batman is a guy dressing up as a bat because he wants to be scary. Gaim is more than a show about fruit hats and street dancing. Its biggest strength is its structured and well-crafted story. Taking basic heroes and coming-of-age tropes and spinning a deep, thoughtful, and entertaining story about a young man's journey to become an 'adult', and a 'hero'.

So please, watch the show and take it in and evaluate it fairly before talking about things like 'the good ol' days' and 'serious business'. But if you're not going to put in the effort and energy to do so, then don't comment at all because then you're not judging the show fairly.

The prologue scene already suggested that the story was going to move way beyond the dance crew turf wars.

Just due to relevance, you'd be surprised at how many people thought the opposite (Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm more referring to people on social media sites than anyone here).

I'm not sure if "threatening" is given for Rider designs anyway.

True, though in-universe, Shocker likely wanted to instill some fear with its creature designs (whether they were successful or not is a different story ).

Oh No! You don't like the last couple of series. Kamen Rider is RUINED FOREVER!!!!

Forget Kamen Rider, TV IN GENERAL IS RUINED FOREVER!!! MTV with their stupid reality shows and Karaoke crap on British Saturday night TV..

But getting back on topic, while I haven't watched much of Gaim to make a strong opinion, I think the Heisei era Kamen Riders have been a mixed bag. For a start they aren't the same Kamen Riders they used to be. While I enjoyed Faiz and Blade I really couldn't get into Hibiki which was the series following Blade, and Fourze is pretty much unlike most Kamen Rider series with it's light hearted comedy.

I think the best way to enjoy the Heisei era Kamen Rider series is watch the ones you like, ignore the ones you don't. The same can be said about the Showa era series Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman, even Power Rangers, even The Simpsons.. even any TV show for that matter.

Like I said, I am watching the show and Im reserving my opinion for now just because you guys peaked my curiosity, but that still doesn't change the fact that having fruits for a power-up looks ridiculous as f***! If thats your thing then by all means carry on with their fruity powers lolz

Would you like some cheese with that, sir.

Hey guys, quick digression: who do you think would win in a heated copyright dispute, Kamen Rider Gaim or the Fruit Ninja?

Followup question: which do you think would be better blended to make a chic-yet-feminine cocktail with just the right amount of "by the beach" panache?
