I just finished DCD..Sigh

Looking at those scans... If Tsukasa wasn't Dai-Shocker's leader, why was the DCD Dai-Shocker symbol still there?

I read through it again, and I had forgotten that he is called the "former Daishocker Leader", but this revelation comes from Bishum and Tsukasa seems completely unaware of it. He never tries to re-embrace it like in the movie.

According to Shinigami Decade's purpose was to enact the "All Rider Extermination Plan" and Shadow Moon states after the tournament that he has outlive his usefulness, so his "leader" role was always going to be temporary. He's just a weapon.

This manga version seems to have a much better Shadow Moon battle just due to the lack of Double stealing it, but, otherwise, I don't see how it improves the movie much.

I generally liked the movie (a lot, actually), but I think thematically the comic story is stronger in some ways, because it dumps some aspects of the series I wasn't fond of.

Hm... makes sense. So, Tsukasa just never recovers his memories in the manga version?

I'm actually really fond of the throne scene, which obviously isn't in the manga, but the Double scene from the movie was bothersome, especially because it also weakened even the All Riders Kick, which seemed kind of unnecessary due to Shadow Moon's state at that point.

And to me.. it was a bigger WTF than the original episode
It made the whole story into something like an infinite loop, which I dearly hate

It isn't an infinite loop because there was a different continuation to it. Natsumi's dialogue at the end even is basically saying "I have questions, but they won't be answered here. Go watch the movie." I mean, it just ends with Decade beating up everybody, there's no reset-like event there that could make the tv show restart. Her dream was just fulfilled.

I could see that point of view if they had used the "Decade and Ultimate Kuuga punching each other and everything explodes" sequence, but it stops right after Decade beats up everybody.

He has a memory flash like in the movie, but he never turns on his friends, runs around in pink and black leather, etc.

I do actually like the idea of Tsukasa being a bad guy who renounces his evil ways, though it becomes problematic with Movie War and the purpose of Decade there. The problem is not that Decade has no story, it's that he really has two conflicting stories.

Got off my ass and finally saw the Special.

I find the Special ending more like, we knew that this thing will happen, so why not save some budget and reuse the scene back in ep 1... which makes sense to me since Toei is addicted to save as much cash as possible.

This just says even more that the writers in the Decade writing staff didn't have good enough communication amongst one another to craft a consistent plot. As I've stated earlier every writer went in their own direction when writing for this series......and it resulted with inconsistencies across the board.

Both of the "conflicting stories" that Igadevil mentions came from the same writer though...

The Japanese wiki entry for All Riders has a fairly simple explanation about "The World of Decade" that conciliates "Decade has no story" with the backstory from All Riders though, IMO. Tsukasa was never active as Decade in his own world, so Tsukasa's world isn't "World of Decade".
