How did the Human Undead win the battle fight?

I've been wondering this for a while. If we assume that the Spirit card gives Hajime all the abilities of the Human Undead, than his fighting strength is about the same as a human. So how did this guy manage to seal the Joker, or even survive the competition that long?

....No, that's not necessarily true. I don't know any Tigers that can throw down like Tiger Undead. I think he was probably slightly stronger than a peak human, so he probably was a kick-arse martial artist.

...He also, no doubt, stayed out of sight until a lot of Undead were down.

I always figured that the Human Undead won because he had the strongest spirit. Exactly what that entails, I dunno, but maybe he made like Captain Kirk and made a bazooka out of a log or something. Or invented fire. As a result, he becomes the Spirit card and humanity is gifted with the strongest spirit of all.

I guess that theory falls apart when you consider that deer are not able to summon lightning thunder and there aren't any magnetic buffaloes, but you could say that since Human Undead won, his ability was given to his victorious species, and that would hold true for the others. So like, if the Bat Undead had won, the world would be dominated by giant bats running around making "VRRRRRRRRRRRR" noises as they scope everything out, or there could be a world where Lion-men beat each other up all day.

...I dunno. I just want to know where he got those jeans.

Another take would be like how Arnold Schwarzenegger defeated a walking killing machine known as the "Predator", set a lot of ingenious traps and waited for the perfect time.

If anything, humans are a very resilient species, so I'm sure he thought of a way to defeat something we might believe as unbeatable.

What I don't get is why the Human Undead looks exactly like a normal human, when all the other Undead are monsters with animal or plant attributes. You'd think he'd be a monster that simply resembles humans in some ways, not a guy who could pose as one.

I thought the victor Undead's species simply became the dominant species. They get that Undead's personal abilities too?

I had a wacky theory that the humans that won the Battle Fight were Agitos.

Then you'd have to explain why the same God that wanted to punish the world for its evils with the Battle Royale would also scatter the seed of Agito all over the world out of his desire to let them become greater than they were.

Actually, maybe there is a way to bridge the two now that I think about it. But generally Agito and Blade are rather incompatible to be in the same universe.

Huh... we saw the one human who won and Hajime was using his power all the time. He seemingly had no offensive special abilities.

Anyway, this is just part of the mess created when they rewrote Chalice's origin in the 15s or so.

When Isaka is examining Chalice fighting against Kenzaki and another undead with his equipment, he calls Chalice a "suit", like Blade. Then there was also Hajime recognizing and almost going crazy after hearing the name Kamen Rider early on.

Basically, it seems strongly hinted that originally Chalice wasn't supposed to be an Undead form but some kind of Kamen Rider, even if obviously different from Blade and Garren. So, the nature of Hajime's human form might have been different too (although it was shown pretty early on that he was an Undead, with the green blood).

They seemingly switched to the final origin right after the Isaka arc ended though, around the 16s or 18s, when Hajime is shown using a card to go back to human form and soon afterwards using another to transform into Chalice, but it left some inconsistencies even later in the show that were never really fixed.
