I know that would be cool, but... Akagi is kinda different from Gai.

Gai Ikari is a Sentai fan where Sentai is real in his world, he idolizing Sentai just like a person idolizing an actor/actress.

Nobuo Akagi is a Sentai otaku, he likes everything about Sentai: collecting toys, know about trivias and in which episodes, etc. In his life, Sentai is just a TV show.

But still it would be awesome for them to meet.

By the way, anybody know that Masato Wada (Akagi's actor) is a real Sentai fan in real life or it's just the acting?

He does a bit in the ending to Gokaiger's final epiode. Cutting a picture of himself out for the scrapbook and telling himself how cool he is.

Yeah, in a way it's almost more like Gai is obsessed over celebrities while Nobuo loves all the toys and other paraphernalia. I bet a "sentai history bee" would be closely fought between them though.

I've basically accepted that people will call anything from Ultraman to Kamen Rider to Godzilla 'Power Rangers' these days. Guys in suits = Power Rangers to the average person.

True, but both are walking Super Sentai encyclopaedias. I'm sure an epic game of Sentai trivia would ensure.

I just found out that Akibaranger apparently had a stage show recently where they call it their 14th episode. Also according to the report they received powers from Go-Onger, Shinkenger, and Goseiger. Still trying to find out if it's true or not.

Akibaranger Nagano Stage Show Event Details

Just recently, Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger had a stage show on Nakano and 2ch reported what happened during the event! Aside from reports of cosplayers and the crowd, 2ch users reports also posted the details of the stage show.


The cosplays spotted in the stage show are: Nobuo Akagi, Jan Kandou, Nanami Nono, Kazuo Niibori, Gai Ikari, Satomi Funebashi, Tsuruhime, Yumeria Moegi and Mitsuki Aoyagi. As for the crowd, 100+ people with Akibaranger merchandise at the lineup outside the building!

As for the stage show itself, it is labelled as "Episode 14". Guerrilla Marketers from the previous episodes, namely Kabukicho, Shibuyacho and Mozenhakacho appeared in the stage show. Since we have these guys, obviously, the stage show has some Sacrificial Corporate Drones in it!

In the stage show, Akagi and co. couldn't transform into the Akibarangers as Saburo Hatter took all MMZ-01 in the 12th episode. The solution? Hakase came up with a proto-MMZ. Akagi recognizes them as the prototype MMZ-01 toys from Bandai.

With the help from the audience, the Akibarangers transformed! The 3 Guerrilla Marketers were no match against the Akibarangers and used the Great Power from Super Sentai series. They summoned Yaiba of the Darkness, Engine Gunpherd and Burstosaur TopGaler.

Go-OnRed, ShinkenRed and GoseiRed shows up and saved the Akibarangers from the enemy. They later received the Penultimate Powers from these three, namely a Checker Flag (Go-Onger), a Big Pen (Shinkenger) and a Microphone (Goseiger) and defeated the enemy with them.

To those who are wondering, the cast, suit actors and staff are responsible for this event and the official Reds didn't have their actual voices in the stage show. To those who are wondering about the DVD release, it will be released on October 26.
