Hibiki "Rider Kicks" staff

Same goes for me. Although I did like a lot of the fights, some seemed repetitive.

When I meant toku portion I was talking about the fights. i hated all of them none of them really interested me. Sometimes I'd just skip the fights and go to next ep preview.

lol yeah the fights are easily skippable. They are very short and almost just thrown in there for ****'s sake. Normal drama and BAM, random battle. Slime Appears. Thou Hast Defeated the Slime. Thou hast gained a new level. Thou hast learned HurtMore! etc etc.

The fights arent that excited either. Some of the beginning ones were. But they got old after a while. Since all the monsters look exactly the same. The battle music is battle drums and bells. It gives you a very "tired" and "yawn" feeling.

I thought Hibiki would be going somewhere, Storywise by episode 20 though. It's a shame that it's close to 30 (right?) and no real story has appeared at all. Same monsters, same type of music. The fights are meh and there's no story. Im not too surprised it's doing poorly.

I really hope the new writers can kick some new life into the show. It feels like a difficult task though. Half way through and nothing's happened. These new writers have to come in the middle and take whats already there and go somewhere with it that's realistic with the boundaries set but also fresh and exciting. It's doable.

But then we gotta keep in mind that some episodes beyond what has aired are already filmed. Do any of us know the film schedule of Kamen Rider?

Cause they may not have that many episodes left to revive this series. May be a bigger challenge than anticipated

Hah, motherfuckers! I told you so! I've been saying this was a crappy show from the fourth episode and people are finally starting to see what I mean. Namely, the entire nation of Japan. I think it's too late to truly "save" Hibiki, but it will be interesting to see what changes they make. I guess. Here's to January 2006.

I agree. Atleast they still have time to save the show. I'm very happy about this news.

It went places...it just felt like taking pit stops every time it got to a place. The rider intro episodes, Asumu meeting Akira and getting into high school, and him getting beat up were all really good episodes. The one thing I can't stand is Danki and Sabaki (who has a knack for getting his ass kicked...), we know almost nothing about them. We don't really even know what they look like. Also, the show wasn't about the riders anymore, it was more Asumu with this older man helping him out as he grows. It's a good concept, but it just wasn't pulled off in the right way.

Now, the one thing that I'm worried about is how much the characters are going to change. It wouldn't make sense for Hibiki to start angsting all of a sudden, so far the changes are only cosmetic, like the intro, the Kanji, nothing big.

What I didn't like about Hibiki, was the lack of... well.. anything going on in the show really!! It was just "empty" (if you know what I mean :P).

I know exactly what you mean. Every time there was a new development on that show, it just fizzled and nothing happened. Like episode 11 or 12 when Ibuki fought that extremely powered-up vampire Makamou, I was thinking "Okay! Here's where something interesting begins." But I was wrong, and nothing came of it. There's just no storytelling there, and I can't bring myself to care about any of the characters if nothing interesting happens to them.

I hope they are able to save it to some degree. I've seen some pretty decent fight scenes on that show (the one I listed above was particularly badass) and the guy who plays Hibiki is one of the best assets the show has going for it. He actually looks and acts like a hero, and not some anorexic supermodel/porn star. Let's hope it gets watchable soon, if that's even possible.

Hey all I say is give Hibiki his kick and we're good to go. Cause he has his bike now.
I love the whole show, it's great, and different from Faiz and Blade. I really find it a unique KR show.

I know. The first part of my statement was about the drama and relationships between the characters, what you had mentioned. I really enjoy that aspect of Hibiki.

I mostly agree about the tokusatsu aspect, the fights seemed repetitive to me. I never skipped them, but sometimes I was anxious to skip to the next scene.

Actually, Danki and Sabaki has been shown...
The actor who palys Danki is basically the suit actor for Hibiki and he came out in an episode once where he was talking over the phone. As for Sabaki, we only saw his picture on the ID card.

Wow...hmm...I like Hibiki. I love that we have a nonanorexic rider in a LONG while, who is NOT of the teenage, "Angsty syndrome." I'm apprehensive that they are changing this...I hope they don't rewrite the characters. Personally, I thought hibiki was a refreshing idea from the usual KR, but I suppose longtime diehard fans of Ishimori don't feel it's doing justice to his legacy. ::meh::

I guess I'm in the minority since I really liked almost all of Hibiki; granted, the first two eps were so chockful of crack they ALMOST managed to scare me away. ::Shrugs:: I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well like a I said before I like the characterizations and drama in it, that's all fine and good, but the toku aspect of the show is very weak. Terribly shot fights, terribly executed fights, terrible enemy concepts, and very little information about the enemy is ever given. The toku aspect of it is horribly written/choreographed/filmed, it's cool to get to see a 50ep dorama, but that's not genre it's suppose to be...
