Have you ever had a pet die...

Today I had to take my kitty luna into the vet. She was dying of Feline Leukemia. The vet said they could run 300 bucks worth of tests, but based on the blood work and the condition of luna... Well we ended up letting her die peacefully. This is the first pet I have had die. Luna was my cat. I have been around family pets before, but never my own. Has anyone ever had a really get pet die on them?

Yes, I had... TWICE.

1. My very first dog, he got hit by a car in the morning, really dark. BAM. He was gone.
2. My third dog, he died of tumor in his leg. It was horrible. He was out of control and had a lot of aggressive. So my parent had to put him in sleep.

My second dog is still alive, have her for nearly 20 years. She is 18 yrs old and still alive. I love that dog.

On certain ocassions, yes. I can't remember the years or the specifics of how they died, but I don't think I want to remember that history.

Yes, found it dead one morning, just lying there....still.

I had it for at least 12 years.

My mom's dog, 1997. Got hit by a car at a friend's house while running away from fireworks.

Several unfirtunately. Lost a few bird, a guinea pig and a couple of dogs die due to old age. Had a dog get out and get hit by a train(actually I didn;t find this out until years later). Had a cat hit by a car. Had to put another cat to sleep just a couple of years ago. That one hurt the most because that cat was my best friend and it was that was the first time I actually had to make that sort of decision, but I know I made the right one, she wasn't in pain anymore

Yep. My Dachshund from 2003 had to be put to sleep. He apparently got too wild and had to be put in a shelter. He caught something over there and had to be put down. Me and my dad rushed to it's side. It gave me that look that just struck my heart before it died. I was young then so it took a big toll on me.

I had a mouse when I was a kid, and he died when a little boy squeezed him too hard to keep him from squirming. The kid was only about 3 at the time, so I don't hold it against him, but still.

I've also had innumerable hamsters die of various causes, as well as a cat and two dogs who were family pets. The first dog was especially traumatic, because my parents took her to the vet, and then didn't come home with her. I didn't even get to say goodbye. :bawling:

I had a pet frog who died so soon because of an accident I did, and I was so sad because I thought I killed it.

Then I had two fish that died after a whole year, but they died on their own inside the bowl.
