Anywho, I'm going to buy DVD on July 18. I have no choice because I wanted to see it so badly. Now I have a chance to watch the original Ultraman this month.

It was licensed through Chaiyo (unfortunately), but the company that licensed it does seem to truely care about the property and apparently have put some work into the DVDs.They're remastering the eps (don't know how they compare to Tsuburaya's though) and they're including some interesting extras.

They couldn't possibly compare to Tsuburaya's current remasters. These were produced by Tsuburaya and Panasonic (yes, that Panasonic), and over 700 hours were spent digitally removing dirt and print damage from each episode, one frame at a time. That's 34,560 frames per episode, times 39 episodes -- that's a freakin' lot of frames. These make even Tsuburaya's previous masters for laserdisc look like mud. Besides the interviews with writer/director/voice actor Peter Fernandez and voice actress Corrine Orr, what else would they have possibly come up with? Still gallery? There's probably not as much material as if they worked with Tsuburaya Productions on this... not a chance. No offense to BCI, whom I am working with on other upcoming Japanese licenses (they asked me to work on the ULTRAMAN box sets, but I had to turn down the offer due to conflict of interest).

Seriously I can't stand it. there's not enough Ultra exposure down here in Singapore currently due to Chaiyo. in the past we had tons of Ultraman on TV.

Seriously,Chaiyo sucks.
When i watched that video with that Hanuman character as an "extra" character,it was really messy with all that explosions and unrealistic fighting...and it seems that Hanuman is the "main" character.

I dunno if any of you saw that vid before but i saw it like........8 yrs ago?
