Yes, it premiered in July of 1966! The B&W "Ultraman Birth" pre-premiere live stage show special premiered on July 10th, a week before the (color) show itself premiered on July 17th.

I ain't really an Ultra fan but for it to stand longer than the Kamen Riders and Super Sentai teams is uncanny.

Wow. Such terse reactions... Without Ultraman, there would be no Kamen Rider, without Kamen Rider, there would be no Super Sentai. I don't understand the violent reaction some fans have. We're not comparing Super Sentai to Power Rangers, ferchrissakes. The different genres (Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Henshin Heroes, Super Sentai, etc.) don't exist in a vacuum, they are all Japanese superheroes, and are all connected.
