Gingaman is definitely underrated Sentai series!

Wait, someone subbed this series???????????? The whole thing, or is this another one of those, "we decided to stop at episod e7" kind of deals?

Anyway, I like Gingaman a lot. I'd say it is probably one of the weaker series from the 90s, but the Balban is a lot of fun. I love how every one of them had their own theme music (although I am made they changed Barbarax's music when it was finally his turn because his industrial theme from the first few episodes was much superior), and how each one was different. Sanbash was the disloyal biker, Buldont was the loyal samurai, Illies was the sorcerer, while Barbarax was a machine. Not to mention Shelinda (and all her fanserviciness) and Prince Biznella were interesting.

On the down side, some of the rangers were poorly written (especially blue, I mean tomatoes, seriously -_-), and the ranger suits are by far some of the worst in the history of Sentai, but their development was well done, especially the relationship between Ryouma and Hyuga. Bullblack was incredible and I love the way he merged with his mech.

The mechs were pretty cool, but I never understood why they were organic creatures who turned to robots to begin with. It just never sat well with me. Plus the upgrades (both ranger suits and mechs) were pretty lackluster.

The battles were interesting, but the music really lacked the energy to go with them at times, so it made some of them feel bland. It is a shame though, because the story is there, the characters are there, they just needed some more excitement. The overall story was good, but it took the Balban way too long to achieve their objective, and then when they did, it was over in just a couple episodes. It was like 43 episodes to wake up Ditanax, only to have him dead in the next episode. Plus, I felt like the final monster thing was just thrown in there at the last minute.

Still, despite its flaws, Gingaman is a great series, but this is one of those times that the series could have been told in 30 episodes as opposed to 50.

That said, Gingaman is an underrated show (written at a time when Yasuko Kobayashi was producing some good work >>). In some ways it's an improvement over Zyuranger in terms of premise and characterization. Excellent action and hero and villain costumes, enjoyable villains as characters, one of the best soundtracks in the whole genre

It's an improvement to Zyuranger in ALL ways.

Because those two episodes made a good impression on him?

:laugh::thumbs:

I just don't like these "OMG So Awesome! :buttrock:" threads people make about shows they've just started watching. It's good that you're enjoying the show, and I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but do you need to spazz out, or at least look like you might? Take it easy.

Well not everyone has a bug up they're ass about everything like you do. Some actually... wait for it..... ENJOY THESE SHOWS!!!!. Can you believe it?.

I think what Fang's trying to say is that you can't adequately judge a 35+ ep. season on just the first 2 episodes. Nothing wrong with liking early episodes but, raise your expectations too high and you're bound to crash down pretty hard once something disappointing happens.

I mean, 555 had a decent premiere and look how that turned out. :loltongue:

Just finished Episode 3. The Seijuu are awesome, and the use of the senshi's ginga powers are cool.

Gouki is a HUUUUUUUUGE pussy though, it's qyite annoying as of now.

Yeahhh....Faiz's opening was boring as crap. The guy didn't declare Gingaman his favorite series ever--he just said he really loved the opening episodes. What's the problem?

Gouki is a HUUUUUUUUGE pussy though, it's qyite annoying as of now.

He's a little sensitive, but the guy's no slouch in the battle department. Keep watching, Kivat.

Aw, c'mon -- Gouki's supposed to be the gentle giant. He knows when it's time to kick ass, though.

And Gouki's probably the best match for Jiro Okamoto to play in-suit.

Don't you mean Batbas and Budo? And Batbas isn't a machine, his army is just industry themed. I don't know where you got that he himself is mechanical.

On the down side, some of the rangers were poorly written (especially blue, I mean tomatoes, seriously -_-)

Hayate/GingaGreen was the one with tomato problems. I still don't get what that was about. Did he just not like them?

and the ranger suits are by far some of the worst in the history of Sentai

How?? I never understood how people think the suits are so bad. What is so wrong with them? I for one like the blend of white and their respective colors.

The mechs were pretty cool, but I never understood why they were organic creatures who turned to robots to begin with. It just never sat well with me. Plus the upgrades (both ranger suits and mechs) were pretty lackluster.

Making them mechanical 1005 of the time would defeat the point of the premise. The Seiju are sentient intergalactic animals. And how are the Galaxy Lights lackluster? I got the Gingaioh armor set this past weekend and I find it quite nice. It makes it look even more like the "king" it's intended to be.

Toshihiko Sahashi has composed some of the best music in tokusatsu, the Gingaman soundtrack included. Part of the reason I have rewatched the show so many times is I believe the music, because as you say it's not among the best Sentais.

Yea, I will. I do see that though. In ranger form he really brings out the Gingorilla in him.

lol yea I see that..but he's gentle to the extreme! If the crying goes down a notch then I'll be fine with him.
