Giant Gundam Thread (yes, it's redundant)

Since the Goseiger thread has to have time to recover from the massive thread derailment, I figured I'd go ahead and make an All-Gundam topic.

Given I'm going first, I have to know:

Should I watch Gundam 00 Season 2? I LOVED the first season--watched it as it was coming out, years back. I thought it was Gundam Wing without all the stupidity--which was great because I loved Wing as a child.

Still, I was following the Mendoi-Conclave subs when S2 came out, but...well....everyone knows how THAT turned out. (They got to...9? Something like that.) And I ended up waiting so long that even Sci-Fi finished airing 00 before I even thought about it again.

Now the show has a massive hatedom, and I'm wondering if it's because Season 2 sucked, or if it's because anime fans in general are just angry, easily irritated little twats that can't stand anything new or different.

So, is 00 S2 worth my time to rewatch and finish?

^^It really depends. I think it's one of those things where you have to just watch it and decide for yourself. There are more than a few valid complaints about it, but most of them result from that hatedom that nitpicks about everything. My advice is watch it for yourself. I'll definitely say it's worth watching, though to what extent, that's on you.

Since this is a Gundam thread, let me get this joke out of the way first.

00 S2 wasn't a failure like SEED Destiny if that's what you're asking. In fact, I thought it was pretty good.

I'm thinking a major problem with fans in the West is that they let the ending of a show color their perception of the entire run.

Well, to be honest, the ending was kinda hackish, but the series was fun to watch, with it's melodrama and all. Actually, on second though, you might not like it, since I remember you saying in another thread how much you dislike things that are dark and gritty. It's science fiction, it's about war, what else can you possibly expect except for dark and gritty?

Oh yeah, if you mean S2 was a total fail like Destiny, then no. It is nothing like that at all. It is at the very least, watchable

I'm used to Gundam not being Macross (where songs can stop war), or Shin Koihime Musou (where songs can ALSO stop war), or even Nanoha (where all characters are competent!)--but that's a level of stupid matching CG.

That is a gigantic generalization there and it's not even 100% correct. The series definitely ends on a happy note.
