Well there is a lot of casual dismissal of Ultraman in American toku fandom. I mean here you have one of the biggest toku franchises of all and it's largely ignored. On a very basic level there is something wrong with that.
At the same time, I don't think anybody is a bad person for not liking it. Nothing will be ever be for everyone but I do think maybe a lot of american fans protest too much, too quickly.

My experience with the Ultraman/Ultra franchise happens to be Ultra Seven X, which most of us in this site have prolly watched anyway, but my other exposure to the Ultra franchise has been Ultraman Max.
My summer vacation in the Philippines a couple of years back is basically when I got exposed to Ultraman Max............the Filipino dub version lol. I found it interesting at first, but then I got into...........hell, they were a showing a Ultraman Max marathon during my vacation, so I took advantage of it while I still had interest in the series. I also saw the Filipino dub of Ultraman Nexus as well, but since there wasn't a marathon of this series, I never watched the whole thing......tragically I'm lost in that series as well.
All I can say is, not bad.......I can't hate on the Ultra franchise at all. I'm prolly more interesting in watching Mebius now, considering it's basically the "Kamen Rider Decade" of the Ultra franchise. I'm prolly also interested in the new Ultra Galaxy movie as well, no doubt

Nexus it is.... I'll see if I can squeeze that into the schedule of gaming, dating, my 3rd attempt at trying to like Hibiki and the usual shows I got in the cycle.
But yeah... the basic "giant dude" stuff isn't something I enjoy. I actually have never been a fan of zord battles.

I only have one problem with SOME (and I emphasize SOME) KR fans both here and at Japan Hero (although it's worse over there). In any discussion on or about Toku, they'll find some way to drag KR into it. Even if we're discussing Ultraman, Super Sentai. Metal Heroes, heck even Gojira movies. Some of them will find a way to drop KR into the discussion. And then the thread goes on for a page or two discussing KR heatedly, before one of the rest of us manages to get it back on topic.
A high level of devotion is a good thing, I suppose. But that to me borders on the absurd.
There are plenty of KR threads on this board...no need to have it in all discussions.
And over the years I have tried to get into KR. And over the years through several series it just doesn't move me to want to watch it. But if it's something you enjoy, then I'm happy for you. And I'm not trying to insult KR fans. It just bugs me. I'd be the same way about people dropping Sentai or other unrelated things into a KR thread or discussion.
