From the director of Ong Bak comes "Chocolate"

Prachya Pinkaew, director of Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior, returns with CHOCOLATE, an explosive new martial arts masterpiece starring his new protégé, “Jija” Yanin Vismistananda, who spent five years training for the role. Jija plays Zen, a young autistic girl who grows up next to a Muay Thai boxing studio and is raised on a steady diet of chocolate and marathon viewings of Tony Jaa and Bruce Lee films. Zen’s father, a Japanese gangster, has been driven out of the country by a rival Thai gang, so her mother has been forced to raise her alone.

It becomes clear over time that Zen has miraculously absorbed formidable Muay Thai techniques from watching the boxers next door and repeated viewings of martial arts classics. When Zen’s mother is diagnosed with cancer and the cost of treatments prove overwhelming for the family, Zen sets out with her cousin on a violent mission to collect debts from the corrupt gangsters that owe her mother money.

Featuring death-defying stunts and a charming newcomer who is sure to blow the minds of martial arts fans everywhere, CHOCOLATE represents Prachya’s proper follow-up to the smash success of Ong Bak.

Dude...seriously? I've had this movie since last year on DVD. This is WAY WAY WAY old news.

I bought it....w/ the piss poor subtitles. Only cost me like $10

Ya this has been out for a while. It's honestly not something to get too excited about either. Jija has some mad skills; she's insanely flexible with some really sharp kicks, but the choreo is pretty bland "beatdown-style" Thai mainstay with very limited back or forth. It's nothing you haven't seen Tony Jaa do, only he does it better. Only recommended if you're fan of tough-chick movies or like Thai cinema in particular.

Over this, I would check out Born To Fight (a remake of the Thai action classic Gerd Ma Lui), which you can get from Dragon Dynasty, and keep an eye out for Ong Bak 2, which is supposedly the **** and a half.

I won't be surprised if FOX get the right to own Ong Bak 2, just like the first film.

And I want to see Chocolate. Unfortunately, Magnolia Pictures got the right to own this (instead of Dragon Dynasty) and will be release here in U.S. next month. (February 10)

I have "Born to Fight". It's pretty bad ass

Yeah Born To Fight is fantastic, not so much for the quality of the fighting but for the sheer number of insane physical stunts throughout the whole film. Definitely shows why Thailand is the new HK.
