From Stargate to Conan the Barbarian

I watched him in Stargate and he wasn't exactly... entertaining to watch. I'm talking acting wise, I'm not into guys with long hair.

I'll wait for the film before I judge his acting ability. So far, I'm getting the feeling he will be a decent Conan.

What bothers me, his physique does look a little on the soft side. Conan doesn't need to be massively muscled, but his physique should be ripped, personifying his savage barbarian heritage.

I don't even see him being a decent Conan. He looks nothing at all like the part he is supposed to be playing.

A few more of Momoa as Conan.

First look at the new CONAN

Well, as a rabid REH fan, I am torn. I know from the early plot synopsis that this is basically a re-do of the first Schwarzenegger film, having Conan trying to seek revenge for the destruction of his people. Which could be ok, but I would MUCH rather see something closer to the original stories. For ****'s sake, there are TONS of Conan stories that would make great movies.

On the other hand, director Marcus Nispel does make a good historical action flick. I thoroughly enjoyed Pathfinder. And Momoa at least does LOOK the part alot more than Ah-nold did. It's just that, as a Conan fan, I think they should take it in a completely new direction from Ah-nold's Conan, rather than having the same basic story. I mean, the Cimmerians are alive and well in the comics/stories. Conan left because he was bored and wanted to see all the amazing sights his grandfather told him about.

I dunno, I will definitely give this a shot, and I am sure it will be fairly kickass, I just wish it would be closer to Howard's stories, rather than another revenge flick. I dunno. Just my two cents.

Kinda like Batman, the deal breaker isn't who they're getting to play Conan. Anyone can play Conan. I wanna see the villains.
