First look at the New Godzilla!

Much better. I so hope that they'll start the terror of the King of Monsters which they failed to do in the 1998 film. I know, I am a fan of that movie as well but then the movie was just too much to be ask as they took the God Mode out of Godzilla and turned him into a big glutton fragile lizard. Oh please LP, do your worst on the cities, burn the entire tank divisions attacking him as well as jet fighters and attack choppers and then I'll be glad and roar like Godzilla.

I am one of the few people who liked Zilla?

He was a unique take on what at the time was a 44 year old Daikaiju. Granted he was despised by western fans and was later Retconned as a totally different monster. Plus fan reaction toward Zilla has softened in recent years, and the Japanese fan's have always found him interesting.

Maybe Zilla's rise in popularity is due to the Fan Cut of the film that remove's any and all mention of the name "Godzilla" and ether completely removes it or cut's it to "Zilla"?

You are not alone. However, I think the reason I enjoyed Zilla was because I'd never seen a Japanese Godzilla film before, thus didn't judge it against that and ended up judging it on its own merit.

Last time there was a Godzilla film, it spawned a cartoon. Does anyone else think the new film may spawn a cartoon as well?

Anyone remember the cartoon it spawned?

You two guys are NOT ALONE! I too am a fan of Zilla and in fact, Zilla is one of my top 5 Daikaijus.
-Godzilla
-Zilla (especially Zilla Jr.)
-Gomora
-King Ghidorah
-Rodan.

The cartoon series you say? MAAAN! I LOVE IT TO THE EPIC MAX! :megarock:

Zilla Jr.= BADASS! (Godzilla's regenerative power and particularly his atomic breath + Zilla's very own agility makes him one of the deadliest Daikaijus of all time.)

I enjoyed the US Godzilla film, but I'm a sucker for the "giant monster" thing, be it suitimation or CGI. And I love how Toho adopted Zilla into their foldings, even though they killed him off.

Well the small rise in Zilla's popularity had more to do with the last Godzilla movie........Godzilla: Final Wars, where Toho created their own replication of the American "Zilla" and had him get his ass kicked completely by the original Godzilla himself.

Don't forget:

Some people think he was the inspiration for Kiryu.

No, Toho owns the rights to the American Godzilla, especially after Sony's rights to do new movies expired in 2003. Sony still has rights to the movie, but Toho has rights to the design by default. Thus, its appearance in Final Wars.

There was also mention of GINO at the beginning of GMK.
