Finishing up Shinkenger (Spoiler Alert)

I like the episode in which Takeru had to pretend to be Kotoha's servant, because it defined their relationship as merely platonic and I am a Takeru/Mako fan

In all seriousness, it was a good episode and it had a endearing conclusion.

This sums up my thoughts on Shinkenger.

Precisely what I was thinking. Much more theatrical than PR Samurai.

Power Rangers Samurai just pisses me off much like Power Rangers S.P.D. did six years ago. Aside from the show being a carbon copy of Shinkenger, there are so many things not right about it. For instance, several elements are just too culturally impossible to adapt to a western environment. And why are these gaikokujin Samurai in the first place? Giving up your normal life and serving a dono is traditional in Japan, but absolutely makes no sense in America.

The characters themselves are just as bad as your typical Power Rangers character - except they're trying too hard to emulate their Shinkenger counterparts. Chiaki starts out as a complete asshole, but that's what we love about him; Mike, on the other hand, is just emo. Ryunosuke's kabuki background is very integral to not only his character, but to the Shinkengers as a whole; Kevin was just a swimmer. And because of this, PR botched the punchline of the bride kidnapping episode. Jayden is just wooden compared to Takeru.

I'm not even gonna bother talking about Antonio, as no one compares to Genta. Period.

Oh come on, did this become a "I hate PR Samurai" thread?

I mean PR Samurai's not that great but do we really need to relay the hate in this thread?

One of my favorite episodes was when Kotoha-chan asked Genta for a curry dish, and his curry dish ended up overshadowing his sushi sales.

Er, what? Nothing was said about any of that

I liked that episode, it was funny and it showed Kotoha starting to speak up for herself. I don't know what it says that although she's shy around the rest of the team she is okay with being direct with Genta (asking for curry, telling him that she doesn't want him to compromise his dream, etc. etc.) Genta don't get no respect
