Finished Boukenger / DekaRanger: Review and Comparisons

While I'd like to agree, you have to keep in mind that the suits are a major part of the shows, because they're what define the genre. It's like graphics with video games I guess. Simply put, the look of the suits will give you a first impression that usually lasts, as you make judgements about the show from it.
I disagree.

While first impressions are influential upon one's way of thinking (consciously or subconsciously), they don't last. I thought the GekiRanger costumes were ridiculous (as did most of the fans I knew when we were getting our first GekiRanger scans), but now I love them, and GekiRanger is an amazing show. And do the suits define the genre? So it's not that sense of teamwork we love, or even the mecha?

And, graphics with video games? I think a lot of people can sit here and play Halo 3, and still go back and enjoy Super Mario Bros. Or...maybe that's just me.

I guess I just thought it was shallow to judge a show on the costumes alone.

True, besides the early had some weird looking suits.

You know,I'm gonna have to disagree. For me Deka was just more fun. I only made it halfway through Boukenger so I guess you can claim that I haven't seen enough to judge it properly but I have seen enough to be bored out of my mind. I just didn't like the characters or anything. Bouken was the first sentai I saw and I was so hyped on it till I saw others. Now it just seems like the weakest link to me.

Ban is an acquired taste. I don't mind annoying reds at all, usually the other characters are boring anyways. Also,I enjoyed the whole cast of Deka thoroughly, there wasn't a character I didn't like.

I don't know man. GekiRed looks almost as goofy as Dekared (and I think their costumes suck).

He's not really not that annoying, he actually becomes quite series in some of the arcs. Just give it a try to see what the hype is all about.

yeah, I didn't think Jan/GekiRed was that annoying, he does have an ounce of seriousness in him and I think he has smidgen of free spirit in him, like Ryouga/AbaRed but I have been wrong before.

Anyway, nice comparison, Vincuts but you forgot to mentioned the episode where Akashi gets struck by bad luck and then wears the Chinese lucky charms during the rollcall and the fight scene.  I still can't get enough of Akashi's torment.

Yoda, in case you missed my avatar, I'm old school toku baby. This basically means yes I've seen all these series - perhaps not in their entirety but I've seen them. Oh, and I hate Zyuranger :)

Well, if so, watch them in their entirety. And, 'bout your sig and your avatar, their images don't have a single ranger from any sentai, old or new. :redface2:

Jan > Ban in a heartbeat.

The suits, once you see in action complete kick all ass.

If you put in the time to watch Deka & Bouken (which both suck) then you gotta atleast put in the time for Geki which blows the 2 out of the water.

I'm throwing Geki in the same category as Changeman, Liveman, Maskman, and Jetman. It's that damn good.

I saw maskman myself, i didn't like it as much as geki, I've seen the first 8 episodeos liveman so far but the mecha battles suck.

I never thought the suits sucked, I thought they unique. Geki has some kick-ass monster designs and villains, one complaint i had about maskman was that it seemed monster seemed to use lasers. I didn't like the mech designs of maskman, but geki has some good mecha designs.

Vicnut, you should really try this series, the plot is fucking amazing even.

Btw, if you hate goofy rangers, they do act a bit goofy, but they geet by the kageki storyline, the development for the characters take awhile but you mreally end ending loving the villains, they're the real selling point of the series. Two of the villains rank up of the top five villains of the few toku I have seen so far,the other three being doctorman, gien, and birugenia.

I agree with you about that, but not everyone thinks that way; and I said the suits are what define them because without the suits they're just an action/ drama/ comedy series.
