I agree, if anything, Mendoza is also a victim of an injustice. He was a decorated officer, and to be wrongfully accused and relieved of his duty just shows how faulty our justice system is.

From what I heard sa Aksyon sa TV5, Mendoza was one of the (correct me if I'm wrong) best(?) officers in the Philippines, well that's what I heard. And that he was accused of extortion. Maybe that's why he got kicked out of the PNP.

Hmmm... To be more specific, yes he was one of the best and as I said, a decorated officer, and he was held responsible for his unit which did the extortion or what we call "huli-dap".

IMHO, it was a waste to lose an officer like him, suffered from our faulty justice system, and driven to desperation for the sake of clearing his name. In fact, all he demanded was for the court to hear his plea for Motion For Reconsideration, and not an out of this world plea to automatically clear his name. But the way the SWAT team and negotiating party handled the situation (plus the brother's actions which aggravated the situation more) just made things go south.

Condolences to the families of the hostages and Captain Mendoza. Again, this will be bad for the tourism of the country and the economy...
