Question... how did you learn to speak or read japanese/nihongo? Some obviously by birth, like Kei_chan... I for one do not... I just use google's translate for stuff written in Kanji/Romaji/Hiragana... I have been using Prim Sleur's audio for Japanese... so, I can watch in peace without having to resort to subs... :)

Self study via dictionary when I was in first year high school... That time I memorized katakana... Then I stop... I came back to studying during my thrid year high school days... Then by fourth year I memorized Hiragana and forgot katakana... Then, in college, I joined PNU-Nami J-Culture Organization and currently the VPE... We're taught by a Japanese friend through speaking... Bawal ngang magsulat ng expressions hangga't di mo alam kung paano sabihin ng tama... Now, since I memorized hiragana, I'm starting to write kanji...

Then, by watching subtitled videos, I could learn the way of speaking as well as the meaning... For improvements din...

I'm studying Nihonggo thru a Japanese friend... I'm now asked to take kanji lessons since I've memorized hiragana and have been memorizing katakana... The order of the strokes are very difficult to remember... Hehe~

not bad. ah hand strokes were easy, just got practice so much. unless the problem is mental block for some people who had forgetful attitude.
