Feeling victorious but bummed out at the same time...

By rights I should be happy as I won a great victory against the Department of Works and Pensions [DWP] to claim a benefit called Disability Living Allowance which I applied for because of my epilepsy and they turned me down because of some silly reason, but after presenting the appeal tribunal with a pile of evidence supporting my claim along with assistance from my aunt, I received a unanimous decision awarding me a victory and I get my claim backdated to the original claim which is July which means I get to hopefully enjoy a decent holiday in London in a few months time plus pay off some bills and buy a DS Lite and a PSP as well...

On a sadder note, I got a email from this girl today to who I confessed my romantic feelings to a few months back [and who I've known for quite a few years] telling me that she was keeping OK and apologising for not writing in a while but she'd been busy with various things plus she was going to be getting engaged in a few months time to this guy that she'd known for quite a while...

On the one hand, I'm glad she's found happiness as she's a good person but on the other hand, I just wonder why is it that I'm always the one who gets my heart broken when it comes to love at the end of the day as I've never broken any girl's heart in my life and I know now how Daniel Meade felt in last night's episode of "Ugly Betty" when Sofia broke his heart...:bawling:

Aww man!! :disappoin

Oh well, hope your trip to London should cheer you up after having your heart broken. Don't forget to bring your DS and PSP with you, load the PSP with some Tokusatsu, and who knows, maybe some Cockney bloke would come and ask you "Oi oi, wots this? PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Rayngers?" And you could reply "No, this is Tokusatsu" And he could say "Taw kew sart sew? You're 'avin a larf arncha?!!" And after watching a bit of it he'd think "This staff's awesome, innit mate!!".

Pork Pie Sentoi, CockneyRanger!! :P

Okay, I'm overdoing it with the Cockney accents!!

*Laughs at Black Ranger RX's mickeytaking of the Cockney accent...*

Thanks for the support and I'm sure that I'll hopefully have girls flocking after me as I'll be hopefully cosplaying as a Turk from Final Fantasy VII at the London MCM Expo...

Congrats on the benefits victory! Sorry to hear about the girl dude.

You can probably take solace that your friendship must mean something to hear since she at least had the decency to tell you that she was seeing someone and that she was likely going to get engaged (ok, granted she probably could/should have told you earlier, but hey, at least she told you at all). Don't take it too personally dude, sometimes life just works out that way. I say "stiff upper lip", go and enjoy that vacation of yours. Who knows? You may meet some nice girl(s) on your vacation. :anime:

JFC, I guess you're right there about her respecting my friendship with her that much in that she was open and honest with me about the fact that she was going to get engaged, but I still regret the fact that I didn't tell her how I felt earlier because I was scared of getting my heart broken again [I guess it's a side effect of having it done by a previous-ex] and yet I find myself having it done anyway...

In any case, me and this particular girl are still friends at the end of the day and that's what really matters altho I hope I'm not going to be in my damn 40's or 50's or Heaven Forbid, my 60's before I find love again...

Don't worry about it dude, you'll get bit by the love bug again. :anime: Just be sure that you're willing to let yourself "get bit". A lot of people get really scared after a heartbreak like that, and they consequently bury themselves like a turtle hides within his shell, to protect themselves from getting hurt again. That's the thing about love though, if you don't risk the pain you can't feel the joy.

That sucks dude. I've had similar stuff happen to me, though not quite on that scale. But, you can at least take solace in the fact that, unlike me, you probably don't have a married, pregnant ex stalking you over the internet  (if you think I'm joking, I'm quite serious ;) )

KRZero, you definitely have my sympathy over the stalking situation and that's some great advice you gave me there, JFC as I guess you're right about how I was burying myself in a shell because I was scared of getting hurt again... Maybe I should learn to love myself as well before I fall in love again...

The reason she's only told me now is because she's been busy with her final year of university plus organizing the engagement party amongst other things...

In any case, I heard from her today and I admit I was really touched as she said that she loved me as a friend but not in a romantic way and that she hoped that I found a girl that loved me as much as her fiance loves her altho whether that will happen is another matter as I find that a lot of girls here in the UK are shallow, arrogant and self-centred at the end of the day whereas I found her to be a really nice girl...

In any case, I'm glad she's getting married at the end of the day as she's one of my dearest friends altho a part of me probably wishes I'd have been the one that had the chance of winning her heart in the end, but in any case, at least she knows how I felt about her and I have no regrets about telling her the honest truth...
