Ever considered going on a break with gaming

I'm not considering going on a break with gaming but I have actually taken some time off gaming for a while. There was this particular period I was having lots of issues, family issues to take care of and I couldn't get enough time for myself in handling such issues, let alone the one for gaming. So I had to lay off playing for about 5 months before I reconnected back again. It really helped me handle things properly without making mistakes.

There are definitely some situations in one's life that requires such individual complete attention and doing away with gaming at such time is not something bad in any way. The game will certainly be a there always waiting for you until whenever you conclude the immediate issue disturbing you and you can just as easily get back to your gaming life.

This kind of break is always obtained in any gamers life who have other things to take care of. It's not a guarantee that the time and energy to play will always be available for you on daily basis after having to toil during the day. Tiredness and fatigue will definitely play its role in making sure that you abandon the game and get some rest.

Most workers are part-time players because of the stress of work and the need to take care of other important things in their life than just gaming. They do play but not always as someone who is free doing nothing with all the time in the world available to his or her disposal. I can still remember how often I get to play before I started working but when I did get a job, my playing hours reduced drastically.

Depending on the nature of sickness that I'm suffering from is what would determine if I would completely drop the game and get better before playing again. If it's just ordinary flu or fever, it wouldn't stop me from gaming at all because I can get myself to play past the stress of the sickness. But if it's something serious like typhoid, I will simply hang my playing pad as well as console and get better before going back to the game again.

I have actually been sick not too long ago and it barely prevented me from having to enjoy my gaming life. In as much that I'm aware that my focus level wasn't the best same with when I'm 100% healthy, I still tried my possible best to enjoy my game life and not drop it as a result of just being ill.

I have thought about it. And started doing the same. I only play games during the weekends. And that has reduced my gaming time a lot. I don't want to spend much time in the gaming anymore. And that means I am getting back my health and the stress issues are not going to be there. No more gaming desperation either.

Once a game starts to bore me out, there is no point in killing myself over playing it too often anymore. Most times, I would simply switch my mind and interest into doing another thing or playing another game, giving that particular one boring me a time off to get it's way back up to my interest once more.
This is a natural phenomenon which happens with all of us. We all have different thresholds and our body and mind have their own tolerance limit. Anything that is done in excess can make us lose interest in it for the rest of the life. There is a saturation limit which, if crossed will never allow us to revert back.

I have taken a break many times in my gaming career, usually for 3~6 months and then I end up coming back. I am 43 years old and I am tired of the same old game and a new skin. Having said that my doctor told me to adapt to change or quit! So I put up with the same games over and over. Now I just wait until I can get them for $30 or less because they are not worth $60 each anymore!

Sometimes overdoing some stuffs tends to give us added stress and such happens with gaming as well. This is actually the reason why I decided to do a thread on it and find out what others think about it, and from observations lately, it seems I'm not the only with such thoughts as regards to taking a break for the betterment of the gamer in a whole.

That seems to be a good advice from your doctor and it's also a good thing that you heed his medical advice for you health status. It's someone who is alive and well that would get to play any kind of game in the first place. One cannot be admitted in the hospital and such person still be disposed to play. It's never possible. Good input from you @Soulwatcher.

I completely agree with you on this because it's more effective to have less things distracting you from a particular important task in order to focus well and sort it out. Games as much as it's something so fun to engage in, it can be a great source of distraction which is capable of making one lose focus from his set objectives.

I don't really game that much these past few years, so I'm having breaks every here and then but I always end up getting back to games. There is absolutely no point of not playing video games if you aren't addicted to it.
