No, a long O in Japanese. It's usually romanised as OU (e.g. Ryoutarou Nogami) but the ordinary O sound isn't. I'm sure someone whose Japanese is better than mine could explain it properly

Crunchyroll used to have a hilarious HK sub of the Kakuranger movie (it referred to the heroes as "Cuckoo Rangers", among other things) but they took it down aaaages ago, even before it became a subscription site ...

Ah, the Japanese long 'o'. Isn't "Moune" pronounced exactly like how Moune would say, "Mooooouuu... , ne?"? I'm not sure she says the exact phrase, but she says the "mou" (already/enough) part a lot in moments of frustration.

I thought that's exactly how a subber would do her saying that, that's why I think the spelling was perfect.

On-Topic: I found the cocky Engrish from both Hoji and Tetsu in Deka funny. Not that it was Engrish. But that they seemed so confident while saying it.

That's not the point. The point is that the animal is called a "Condor" and because 98% of the Japanese language ends in a vowel, they added a "u" at the end. Thus making it "Condoru". So, does it sound like "L"? Yes. Is it an "L"? No. If you say "Condol" or "TajaDol" then you obviously need to go back to 1st grade spelling.

No, her actual name is モネ, with a short o. That's why it's such a baffling romanization.

My favorite HK tokusatsu Engrish is SHOO SHOO CALL / SHOO SHOO NINJAS from the Hurricanger OP. (It's actually not an awful set otherwise, though)
