Dreamcast

If you had the ability to have prevented the Dreamcast from dying, to prevent Sega's unfortunate downfall, to have it stay in the console race instead of Sony or Microsoft, would you do so?

I sure as hell would have if I could have done so. The Dreamcast has most of my favorite games of all time.

Me too!! The Dreamcast is the best damn console of all time, period. It would've been great to see the Dreamcast stay in the console race PWNing the PS2, GameCube and XBox.

And I don't give a **** what Z-Unit thinks, he can have his PS3 nonsense.

I was never a big fan of Dreamcast.

I used too go into Virgin and go through all of the consoles ... but I'd always avoid the Dreamcast.

And the only game I can remember was a fishing gama lol

Then you're missing out on so many awesome games. Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, the list goes on..

I managed to find a preowned Dreamcast for about 80 bucks, should I get it?

Also, I'll need to know how they mod the Dreamcast, if we're allowed to talk about that stuff that is.

modding is not neccessary at all. A gameshark disk and device bypass region coding.

Despite its premature end, the Dreamcast has a huge hit-and-miss library, with an enormous hit ratio. (rare misses, like the constant zombie titles). Can get good deals on games for it on Amazon.

Many of the non US games, such as Ikaruga or Rez, were later released in the US on other consoles, but they were much better on the Dreamcast.

Well I managed to find one for a LOT cheaper than that!! :D It was a UK PAL version.

But if you want to buy a Japanese Dreamcast, then it's going to be a lot more expensive. And why wouldn't you, there are lots of colours and special edition versions of the Dreamcast that were only available in Japan, such as..

A Black Dreamcast.

Or, a Hello Kitty Dreamcast.

But then again, there's nothing wrong with having a normal bog-standard white Dreamcast, at least it does the job.

As for playing import games, simply use a DC-X disc or a GameShark disc (as Chad Hyou said).

Dreamcast was great..games like Jet set Radio are Perfect.:buttrock:
But hey if you broke, you gotta love Chankast:169:

Unfortuately, my Dreamcast is dying. It can't play games as often as it did before, and getting new games is a gamble, since I don't know whether they will run on it or not. :bawling:
