Drag Me to Hell - Talk Up

No I guess I wasn't. Now I'm gonna definatley have to check out his other flicks to get a better understanding/appreciation for it.

Yeah, I think it comes down to what you expect. Drag Me to Hell was all intentional and what you see is what a lot of people have wanted. If you were going in expecting an actual horror or slasher, I could see the movie being a pretty horrible experience.

Evil Dead 2 was just mind blowing for a lot of people. Back in the day, if you had any horror trappings two things were certain.... there is no successful fighting back and only the female lead makes it out alive. Evil Dead 2 was on of the first where it just kept breaking rules over and over and over again 'til by the end you had a dude strapping a chainsaw to his severed wrist, revving it up and saying, "Groovy." :169:

The monsters came and he answered with his shotgun and followed up with his chainsaw fist.

But in the end..... his "horror" heroes usually don't end up with the ending they expect... like in Drag Me to Hell which had me suckered all the way 'til the final frame in what I was expecting to happen.

I'm a big Black Metal fan.

A movie I'm half way through is DEAD SNOW, It's from Finland I think. Nazi Zombie's anyone?.

Jason and Myers are not horror. They are slasher movies. There is a big difference between slasher gore and real horror.

Growing up with the aforementioned movies horrified me many times.

But ya, totally slasher.

But back to DRAG ME TO HELL, not horror.

Its a Sam Raimi horror flick to say the least...

Maybe that was the wrong movie.

Two things:

1) A Sam Raimi movie WITHOUT Bruce Campbell?! Not even in a cameo role?! I'm shocked!

2) Shaun, you've seriously never seen the Evil Dead trilogy?! Not only are those movies right up your alley, but they're also damn good!
