Disney, WTF!!!

so we freak out about cartoons being too skinny, but in the meantime people are eating themselves to the size of a house. people are fucking stupid, disney didnt **** up here, people did because they're thoughtless, fat, dumbasses.

It's 98% their fault and the other 2% on the convenience of fast food, it's cheapness, it's availability, and it's easy-to-make-ready-to-eat practicality

We live in a society where everybody wants things immediately and hate waiting, we're impatient and childish in that respect

One could say that this is a reason behind the fat acceptance movement, because it's easier to love yourself instead of actually doing anything about serious health issues (which aren't as widespread and as common as one might initially think). It does however build self-confidence which could be seen as a positive

We also live in a society where 60% of the national population is dirt poor and can't afford anything but fast food to feed themselves and their families, or don't have time to cook because they're working 70 hours a week and living out of their car.

Obesity is one of America's most pressing and unsightly issues, but please don't succumb to the rigid Conservative belief that the underprivileged in this country are all fat and broke because they're lazy and don't want to work.

In Norway, they have no places to exercise due to the cold, yet they are the fittest people in the world alongside the Japanese. So there's no excuse for being overweight.

Please give me citations about the amount poor , ok otherwise it is moot.

The "underprivileged" in this country are some of the laziest scum I have ever seen, especially those whom mostly abuse these social services on the backs of the hard workers and I could not give a care if that offends you because it is a fact. However I have also seen those whom legitimately are among these people that are not of the stereotype as well.

I blame more of it on welfare and social services making it easier to be dependent on the system than be self-reliant and able to get out of poverty. I only blame the people whom vote to keep these big government aspects in the government, but it was a result of other legislations as well.

Sure there's fast food , but there is not an excuse to be overweight in the slightest when other nations have lesser "opportunities" and conveniences and still are much more fit than those in the Western world.

Before we get to the flagrant lie of American-exclusive obesity , let's also recall that over 30% of the population of the UK are overweight while in other nations of the Western World [excluding much of Africa] and other first world nations, lack of time for exercise and a culture that is unprepared for improvements in medical and food technology, if not genetic factors or indigenous peoples [ Many tribal people whether they are in any part of the world] are not adapted to this diet in the regimen or routine required to have a fit life to compensate for the calories eaten.

I did find an article that addressed European obesity in indigenous populations there, but I'll need to research it .

EDIT: here's a similar one:

Hunter gatherer societies are the brunt of the reason why obesity is prevalent really because of lack of adaptation to a newer industrial diet.

Don't judge me!

I don't actually do it.

What? I really don't do it.

Why won't you believe me?

You're pantsless right now, aren't you?

Your opinion of a handful of these people is not an absolute fact that should be applied to every single underprivileged person living in the U.S.

That is a large sum of people to be making sweeping generalizations about, with or without a study.

:O_O:

No.

You're doing that thing like guys do to segue into "What are you wearing?" aren't you? :169:

Edit: Even the 169 thing doesn't make me feel comfortable. No more creepy stares from you Fox-Chan!

This is irrelevent and probably wrong anyway. There are a myriad ways for the body to receive exercise and not all of them or even most have to be performed outdoors. Have you ever heard of a fitness center? I bet Norway has too.

Furthermore, body fat levels and overall composition is largely dependent on diet. It's unlikely that the quantities of overly-processed but affordable packaged foods exist in Norway that exist here. People eat what's attainable, and the impoverished don't have much of a choice.

My original quote of 60% was an obvious embellishment, but the number of people living below viable subsistence level* in this nation is now as high as 17%, which is as high as it's been since these statistics started being quantitated.

*17% refers to overall national poverty, as opposed to the less startling "official" national poverty level that's been calculated according to the census. Note also that that article is dated and that inflation and subsistence have both continued to decline in the past year, which means that the percentage is now likely even higher. This is nearly a quarter of our country. Does that seem right to you?

I can't decide whether to laugh or boil over about this. These are obviously the words of an ignorant, nardscratching mouthbreather who catches little bits of pundit discourse on Fox News and regurgitates them all over whoever's in ear shot to rattle on about the values of hard work and American idealism. Gimme a fucking break. If I had to guess, I'd say you've never worked a day in your life.

I'm employed at a high-end restaurant with a mostly affluent clientele and very healthy business, and even some of the servers I work with are single mothers struggling to provide for young children, or are trying to support their entire immediate family due to disability or illness, or are living out of their cars and still manage to hold an enviable position. I was once asked for five dollars of gas money from a guy who works about 55 hours a week. If you had that many brain cells in your head, you'd realize the fallacy of claiming that a.) the underprivileged and impoverished are "lazy scum" that "abuse the social system," and b.) that this overtly ignorant and insensitive remark is a blatant generalization, and nowhere in the vicinity of being the "fact" you assert it to be.

I suggest you begin acquainting yourself with some of the recent statistics on poverty, subsistence, the misery index, unemployment, social security and the Obama administration's allocation of federal funds and before you run off at the mouth with this vitriolic, dehumanizing trash. For whatever reason, it seems like the biggest mouths are always attached to the smallest brains, and they're often the ones most insistent on participating in discussions of fact-sensitive topics. I'm really beginning to dislike you.

Uh, surely they have gyms in Norway? It's not like people can't exercise indoors.
